...Karyn 10,931 m ... and congrats to NHRC for hanging in there at number 15, too ...
I was so annoyed later in the day when I realized the date was 13113. (I erg in the morning before work.) I thought that would have been a great distance to erg on the final day of the JVTC, but alas, it was my mother's birthday and she came over for dinner, so I didn't have time to pull the erg out again to get those extra meters in.

Thanks for recognizing my real world team. They held their own nicely and made it across 8.5 million meters. Not bad for a team of only 39 members. That was the smallest number of members out of the teams in the top 15. I'm impressed. I feel better knowing that my 250k wouldn't have helped them move up into 14th place. If I had rowed with them, I would have been 14th out of 40 rowers. (The 39 who signed up + me.) Instead I'm 43 out of 107. Thanks Loonies for having me! I love you guys!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 2.1.13

Post by Kona2 » February 2nd, 2013, 1:07 pm

One of the rites of almost spring is the arrival of The Lists. Lists of bicycle rides/tours that one just CANT miss - all rolled out on a state by state basis. Just when you think you're immune to the lure of the bicycle tour, these gems appear with tantalizing descriptions and a sign up now message. And there I was, pouring over the descriptions and day dreaming of long bike rides and wondering whether or not to try and sign on to Cycle Oregon again this year. Temptation lurks in every bicycling magazine...and when they happen to advertise it as "The Rolling J"...well, I could convince myself it was karma.

The day after a Challenge finishes up...a well deserved day of no erging for some, and a victory lap of meters for others. The number gnomes were out and about in Arkansas! It's all good!

Season meters as of 276/365 = 132,035,808 m

Total meters on the day = 342,797 m

Oars in space (participation) = 24 percent

Okay, I guess I'm officially a Luna-Tic. :) I got a Concept 2 rower about 5 years ago but only rowed sporadically, very sporadically. In fact I really started rowing in earnest December 1st for the Holiday Challenge, so my 2013 season started then. I kind of got hooked and went on with the Team Challenge. I don't know how much rowing I'll do this summer, but I think I may keep at it a bit. Cycling is my main focus in the warmer days, but we shall see.

Anyway, Hello to all.

Hello, back at ya! And, warm welcome, even if you are a bicyclist ... :) (There are a lot of "your people" on the team and, even with their real-world insane dayglo spandex outfits and lane sharing quirks, they rock.)

Howard, there are many of us that got hooked just the way you did, and we're still here! I expect you to be around for many more challenges to come. :) Many of us have other forms of exercise, or obsessions  , that we mix it up with; running, weight training, cycling, water rowing, swimming, etc. That's part of the fun because we all come together when a challenge is up and do our part to pitch in.

Don't forget to print out your certificate for the challenge. It will have your name and total meters for the month on it, with the challenge logo. I use mine for inspiration by hanging them above my rowing machine in my home gym.

Great work by everyone in the challenge, and a nice intro to the team for me. Sadly work had me on the road too much this month and my rower won't fit in my suitcase!

Looking forward to the next challenge!

P.S. Sadly I do not get often enough on the Forum, but the team drive definitely helps my rowing!
