Woohoo! Somewhere along the way to that THREE million meter mark, Danno picked up an oar. Things should go a little easier now! Well done, Danno!

Want to send out a huge congrats to all the achievements recently, both for the Team Challenge and otherwise.

Have been fighting with another cold for the last week or so. Finally feeling much better, though I've taken more time off then usual trying to recover faster. Fairly happy with the pace of todays 10k... better then it's been for a couple weeks.

Wishing a get well for those that may still be under the weather.

Hooray for me!

I hated sitting sationary in the boat and not pulling my weight. I am so glad to finally have my oar so that I can really row now. I love to see me rowing along, especially since it is way too cold for me to be out on the river right now. I shared the JVTC 100k canoe picture of me with one of my real world teammates. She loved it, but did ask how I was able to row without an oar. I told her there was a great current in outerspace.

Thanks for all the motivation and inspiration. That thanks goes out to K2 and AJ plus all the rest of the Lunatics who are putting in amazing meters, cheering us on while recovering from injury, and simply pushing themselves all the time. I love my Loonie friends!

Another Bathtub...it's ......it's.....

Post by Kona2 » January 25th, 2013, 8:55 pm

Ok - here's the deal. We are clearly a team that cheers all our teammates on through all the milestones. We send positrons out into the virtual wilderness to SHOUT out all the good stuff. And we respect a teammate's wish to be off the grid, or maybe to be a former teammate. We hope they will come back, but until they do, we leave them alone. When a teammate says they wish to not appear on the roster of a Challenge, it will say "Name Withheld." I try not to take it personally, but I think I do anyway because I don't always understand what's going on or if I wrote something I shouldn't have written. So, today, when enough meters accrued that rang the BATHTUB achieved bell for a Challenge teammate who requests name withheld, I wrestled with whether or not to say "WAY TO ROW!" or to say nothing. I'm having a really tough time not acknowledging the amount of time and effort that a Challenge teammate has put into this Challenge. So, out of respect for name withheld, I won't write the name ...but I sure will say "WAY TO ROW!" and that I hope you like your caricature. You earned it !

This challenge has really motivated me to get the meters in. When I showed the canoes to my husband (who considers rowing a form of torture, as he prefers running to all other forms of exercise) he immediately got up from the table, looked at the calendar and mapped out how many meters I would have to do each day left in the month in order for me to get a canoe, saying "you can do it." 100,000 is my goal, but if I continue at the rate I'm going I'll surpass my monthly max for every month since I've been rowing :!:
I haven't posted my meters all week because I want to dump them in when I've got enough for my canoe. Gotta keep the competition guessing don't we?
And my foot is almost totally better, so I have no idea what I did to make it hurt so badly last week, but thank you for all of the support it is the reason I love being on this team.

K2,
You are so upbeat and so great about celebrating all our achievments, both great and small, I can't imagine anyone taking offense. I know the good wishes and the incentives have helped keep me going through a couple of painful and frustrating months B) (No rub a dub-dub in the tub, but I hope to not finish "Up the creek without a paddle  ) I have said it before, but I don't think it can be said enough-Thank you for all you do :D Your efforts on behalf of this team are nothing short of amazing :!:

K2,
I totally agree with this sentiment:!: Even the "Up a creek without a paddle" part.

And thanks Drive too Fast for your encouragement as well. It is greatly appreciated.

I agree, too! I've rowed more meters this month so far than in any month, ever, in my sporadic rowing "career." Have slacked off this week because of work, but trying to make up for it this weekend. K2, you and AJ keep us going--well, as does everyone on this team! Everyone is an inspiration. Thank you all!

For any slow rowers like me wanting a movie that fits well with a half marathon, Terminator 2 seems the right length. And it's motivating if you're a slow girl rower--if you get tired, you can tell yourself that the more you row, the better chance you'll have of looking as buff as Linda Hamilton! (I suppose Arnold might be motivating for guys, but he doesn't seem the rowing type...) Not too much dialogue to have to try to hear over the rower, and lots of crazy action.
