Subtitles! They fill in the gaps, when you don't want to blast the neighbors with 100% volume. I find that most movies and TV series have captions available in the set-up.

I use cordless headphones. Not too much TV but do use them a lot for audiobooks.

LOL, I must be one of the special ones who has to all of my rowing at the local YMCA; They only have two ergs, so I'm always stressing out that the staff are going to kick me out for using the machine too long! And no TV's I guess I'll see what they do when I go for my first full marathon tomorrow

I never use headphones or music when I row; the whir of the fan blades and my breathing combine to become an almost meditative mantra that I find very relaxing
