Actually, or should I say additionally--and more embarrasing--I hurt my wrist quilting, of all things, proving that too much of anything, however innocent and sedentary, can be a BAD thing. I'll try my hand at it again today ... no pun intended. Truly. I'll flit off now  ...

...but not before saying how much I've enjoyed catching up the posts for the last week; what a diverse bunch we are. Yay TimbukTOO!
Gotcha, Heather. Do you hand-quilt? Crikey! I quilt by machine (and speaking of embarrassment, I have a king-size that's 95% finished and has been for the last 5 years...) Would love to see pics of your work!

I was very, very t'red (too tired to even spell). That 2k on Saturday was a killer.

I think the team has its first quilting injury. Let me tell you that I feel for you. My kid's school pants have this weird metal clasp instead of a button to hold them together. The clasp broke so I spent my morning cutting a button hole, sewing around the edge to keep it from ripping, and then sewing a button on the other side. I feel like a super human right now. I was really treading new ground for all of huMANity.

Does anyone watch King of the Hill?

HANK: I am not sewing. I am upholstering, which is one of the five original industrial arts.

Drooling more over the original Singer you posted... My aunt is in possession of my grandmother's sewing machine, much like that machine. I am scheming how to get it away from her, as it's just collecting dust in her basement laundry room.

Hey, but at least I don't spray HOT SILICONE on my Bernina before a session of winter quilting!

You should just ask you're aunt if she would sell it to you - I bet she would be happy to let it go... that is -- if you would care for it in the way a person should care a for a fine vintage singer sewing machine.

And Yes my 7-33 is just an incredible machine. I paid $1500 for it and it doesn't even have reverse. That is the work horse of many industrial / leather shops. It can sew through 3/4 inch of leather. I use it for building custom load straps and slings.

I would like to get a Singer 99k -- Another awesome machine. Its not industrial but its a great machine for lighter work. I don't really need it but like any person that is inflicted with sewing-machine-itis you just can't help yourself. Between my Singer SK-6F, 600e, and Consew 226R I don't really need the 99k but hey, who's counting?

And to bring this back around to rowing -- I've been thinking about building a shade that I can attach to the erg box for those grueling mid-day rows during the summer.
