LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Another Canoe...It's Tammy !
It's not every gal who gets tormented by Dad Jim and Brother Jay singing theme songs ...The ole hooty-owl hooty-hoos.......sure makes for a strong rower! Way to row, Tammy !
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tammy Gwinn . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tammy Gwinn . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
ANOTHER Oar !! We're not up the creek after all !
The ArMOONda fleet is not only gaining canoes - it's gaining some oars! Way to row, Jay !!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Jay Kielma . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Jay Kielma . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Fabio and his Canoe
Yes, I hear that Fabio's been practicing shooting the rapids (easier in a kayak than a canoe, so some skill definitely involved here) so that he can have that wind-blown look for the next photo shoot...fortunately, he's got an oar....and you know, I think his hair has grown in the last 100K ! Way to row, Richard...I mean, Fabio!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Richard Tessier . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
And, while I am pretty sure that Richard's Fabio isn't his alter ego, there are some great examples of fun alter egos: a favorite is from a comic strip by an illustrator/author Pat Brady who writes "Rose Is Rose." Rose is a suburban housewife and mom who turns into Biker Chick Vicki every so often. The following link is a good one to show just how this transformation can happen...

WAY TO ROW DAD
Re: Another Canoe!! It's Anita !!
Just realized that Anita rowed across the 100K with a half marathon ... so there's a half moon on the bow of her canoe!Kona2 wrote:Woohoo, Anita! Like the hat, too! Way to row that first 100K and get that canoe !

He's A Meter Millionaire !!
Woohoo and hooyah! Not only has Roger earned his canoe, he's now crossed another major milestone! Congratulations, Roger, on achieving a ONE million meter rowing season. We wish you many, MANY more !!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Well I was planning on being more productive for the Virtual team challange, but I've been sick with the flu
I tried rowing last night, but my lungs are shot. Hopefully i'll be back rowing soon!

Hope you feel better soon! For perspective, there's still one more team Challenge...it's the grand finale....the World Erg Challenge!Realistic wrote:Well I was planning on being more productive for the Virtual team challange, but I've been sick with the flu

It was a race to get the graphics ready before Laurie made it across the 100K milestone and into her canoe...! (Actually, AJ had them ready almost immediately but it sounded more dramatic to say it the other way... )

Team Standings - THANK YOU all for rowing with us!

And to all our teammates who are fighting off the flu or other ailments, take the time you need to heal ! There are MANY challenges throughout the year (including the rowing ones), and this is all for fun and exercise (and motivation and and and). It's great when you check in and let us know what's happening. I know several teammates are on the recovery list. Lots on the US news about the Boston area being under siege with the flu virus (wipe down the rowing equipment when you get on it and when you leave it - especially at the gym).
Meanwhile, the Challenge of rowing a LOT more has been a kicker for me. Whew. How do people find time for all those meters - well, some of them probably row a lot faster than me.
Season meters as of 253/365 = 117,057,380 m
Total meters on the day = 678,989 m

I'm so excited to have my own canoe! Thank you! Made the extra effort today to make sure of it....and yes, hope everyone who is sick is feeling better soon. Nasty stuff out there.

Life is not about learning to survive the storm, but rather learning to dance in the rain.

If anyone knows of someone with a fascination for numbers (wink wink), this article about a couple from Massachusetts who picked a wedding date to match their town's zip code might be of interest: http://www.newburyportnews.com/communit ... de-wedding.
I still have a ways to go before I join the Armoonda, but I think I might be able to make out the sound of distant paddles.
Best wishes for those who are hurting right now... There might be be a boat in the Armoonda for someone with the qualifications to address whatever be ailin' ya (Thank Goodness, there are no yardarms in a canoe):
