Good for you, Astrogator! How you make the time to research bunny trails, AND keep everyone's stats AND pictures in order, AND row a hundred-thousand meters is the stuff that luna legends are made of. Race you to a paddle!??Kona2 wrote:And number 24 of the ArMOONda climbs into the canoe...not a great swimmer, so quite thankful that the canoe is there !

Richard TThis back thing has really been frustrating. This is the longest it has taken me to come back from an injury since I had knee surgery back in 1971-The Dark Ages, when knee surgery left you with a 4 inch scar, instead of a little hole.
The healing process has seemed like 1 step back for every 2 steps forward. The pain is not too bad now, but there is still a problem with the motor root of the sciatic nerve and I have weakness and still no reflexes in my right leg. About all I can handle is about 30 minutes of moderate pace walking on level ground and then the muscles in the right leg start to give out. Exercise has always been important for me, for both physical and mental well being, I'm trying very hard to stay posistive and not give way to Doctor Phil's "Stinkin' Thinkin"![]()
One of the hardest things, is not to start doing more when the pain subsides. I already gave into that urge once and I paid dearlyThe Physical Therapist gave me a stern lecture and showed me a copy of what she called the "healing curve" Time is on the horizontal axis and pain and tissue repair on the vertical axis. Pain starts high and tissue repair low. At some point, with the pain decreasing and the tissue repair increasing the lines cross and for two to three weeks you are in the "area of vulnerability" where you feel just good enough to think you are healed. I'm back to that point again and I'm trying very hard to be good. Two more weeks of physical therapy and low level home exercises and lumbar traction and if the motor function hasn't come back they will reevaluate and perhaps do an MRI or some other diagnostic tests.
Sorry to bore you all with this, but I just wanted to let you know why I haven't been around much. I really miss being an active member of the team. Your individual and team accomplishments in the current challenge are truly impressiveCongratulations to you all

You're getting really close to both the one million mark AND the canoe (and your caricature is quite good, too)!sarahaddams wrote:Congrats on getting your canoe Kona2! Also, I really appreciate the motivation. I've been rowing some extra meters this week since I'm getting close to the 1 million meter mark! So glad I joined for the team challenge. I love reading the updates everyday and seeing others get their canoes and oars!
