Hi Jus,
I usually feel better if I do some exercise when I'm stuffed up. I hope you get back to normal soon.
Byron

I agree with John that you don't want to get close to other people. I'm sure that everybody at this forum who ergs in a gym does this, but when I used to go to the gym I always made a grand production of cleaning the handle, seat, etc. of the C2 with a Simple Green solution or whatever was available so the C2 would be as clean and germ free as possible for the next user.
Byron

Yeah I would agree with the other posters. Last week i had a cold and went thru almost an entire box of tissues within a day. I just hopped on my concept 2 and did an easy 2k and attempted a 500m sprint and it cleared out all of the junk in my nose n throat pretty well. Next day I felt better too. Good luck.

a generally good idea when sick is to do a neck check. Meaning, as long as all of the symptoms are above your neck (stuffy nose, headache, sinus pressure) it is okay to exercise moderately. As soon as they go below the neck (fever, cough, sore throat), rest is best.

At college, the general rule for all our ergs which were used often by a lot of people on the team.

"Wipe down yo' shizzy befo' you whizzy, and wipe up yo' drizzy after you spizzy"

-ebonics translation: "wipe down the erg before you row, clean up your drool after you spit"

Jus,
Drink lots of liquids and get plenty of rest you will get over it in 7/10 days and as feel your condition improving begin exercising slowly at first. You don't get in or out of shape in a week.

When I 22 I was stationed at ft. Bragg NC; it was winter and I picked up a cold. I was a tough kid in great physical condition and I decided I could kill this cold! Put on my sweats and did a nice easy 9 miles. The next night I was in the hospital with double pneumonia: The moral of the story rest drink lots of liquids.

Bert

I just caught a cold too, from race walking too much, pushing the HR to 100% at 164 for a 63 year old. The immune system drops, & susceptibility to colds always happens. So it's back to the rower now, with lsds to recover in time for the next race this comng Sunday.
In a good gym, the air exchange of a minimum of 11 cyles per hour should lessen the risk of spreading the cold viruses around, but most gyms do not bother about this requirement. So we have to help by wiping the handles with a good germicide.
KC63
