Hi Rachel, and welcome aboard! I'm the "first mate" on our little boat and manage the stats side of things... I have gone ahead and added 100k as your goal -- let me know if that was OK or to remove it or change it.Izzzmeister wrote:Yes, Rachel, you did join us for the challenge, and we're glad you're along for the ride!rbetts wrote:I believe I joined the team! I am hoping to row 100,000m for the Team Challenge & looking forward to it!
Should we mark that 100K as a public goal, or is that just what you're hoping for?
TimBukTWO is off to an amazing start! Already two rowers over 50k and another 10 over 20k! Way to row, team!!!

It looks like it worked: > 16k first day!damselfly wrote: I'm off to try the "Hummingbird Jedi Mind-Trick" method of attaining 15k.
I've started increasing the time for each set. I'm now at 5k, 4k, 3k, 3k; with an ultimate goal of 20k/day, my next step is to go into the shadow of 15k and add a 1k to finish, upping it to 2k etc until I'm back to 5k x 4 ...but mañana, mañana. My legs aren't there, yet.
Yay team!! We're still #9 on the affiliation standings. Is there a separate page for the current Virtual Challenge standings?

Sounds like a smart way to rebuild... I don't think C2 has the standings page up yet.

I can't do that daily, don't worry!! Yesterday was spent trimming shrubs and cleaning up leaves... And now my sinuses are letting me know how much they appreciated all the dust and crud. Back on the erg today. Pat is rockin' the house for sure though!!Quatroux wrote:I guess you two aren't going to take it easy!!! Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
For a while now I have been focusing on speed; trying to get faster on each of the ranked times and distances. I am pleased with my progress.
Lately I have been focused not so much on individual time trials so much as I am focused on the pace attributed to my entire season.
Last year - a partial year for me - I rowed 1.7M meters, and my average pace for all rows combined was 1:58.5 / 500m, and 210.3 watts. So far this year my average pace is 1:56.8 / 500m and 219.7 watts. So my collective body of rowing is almost 2 seconds / 500m faster, and my "wattage" is so far up by 4.5% over last season.
It seems to me this is a better measure of overall rowing "progress"; while it's good to test yourself with a quick race now and again, the gains made in your collective body of rowing seem to be more meaningful in terms of fitness level.
So that is where my head is at right now. Do better than the previous season on my aggregate rowing.

I like this way of thinking.
As a Personal Trainer it is always good to see people recognize the importance and value of their various workouts rather than speed or times.Where this is great in a competitive nature..the collective idea is perfect for overall fitness levels and that is the key to health IMO.
ROW STRONG!!!
