First, I need to understand the terminology " Davids".I have not heard this before.I have been erging for many years and have logged many meters.I have, in the past, rowed over a million for the month long challenge so this number is not what I am used to , gulp, agreeing to..LOL.Aging and time has changed my overall rowing skills.I began indoor rowing back in the early 90s. The million meter club has been very good to me here at Concept 2. Thanks for the encouragement..with over 22 million meters behind me and a case of carpal tunnel, tennis elbow ( without the actual game of tennis) and a few shoulder pulls..I will sit back in the erg seat and ROW FOR TEAM TimbukTWO!!!

Pat,

I wish David was British... Then he would have probably signed up for 1MM for the challenge, and we could have a much easier conversion factor, ala the metric system.

(Just a lot of geeky silliness.)

I will probably never hit 22MM before I'm pushing up daisies. You have earned a seat at the head table of any rowing group, regardless of how much you have rowed in the past few months. Like you said before, one meter at a time!

Thanks for the lesson in Davids..I guess I still don't know just who this David is..but as the challenge progresses, I will learn
I am just happy to be back on the erg and in the company of such great people!!

He's TimBukTOO's top dog, with 4.9MM so far this season, and 650k for the holiday challenge.

It's a bird... it's a plane.... It's Super-Erger!!!

Thanks!
There is always one of these in every team..LOL.
I really envy his endurance and drive!!
When I did major meters such as these I made erging a job of sorts..rowed 3 times a day and every day.But that is no longer a priority of mine.Got a sore rear, stiff joints, pulled muscles and well..just overuse stuff.
I now cross train big time and just work out to stay young at heart, literally and keep the bones from becoming brittle.
YAY David!!!

Oh and I might add that when I sit to row I have to "gear up" ..LOL.I have an elbow brace, my wrist guards and hand pads and a nice padded seat.It takes me 10 minutes just to get my rear in gear..LOL.I also need an ankle compression sleeve for my almost broken ankle from last July and sometimes a knee compression sleeve.By the time a suit up I am tired and my heart rate is already starting to max out...but it is worth it.Preventative meaures and support systems..then it is ROW!!!

A warm TimBukTOO welcome out to new member Amanda Gladics!!

Welcome aboard, Amanda! Grab an oar, find a seat, and get comfy. Stop on by the forum and introduce yourself if you have the chance.

I love your avatar pic! What species of bird have you got there? Looks like you do some interesting work!

OMG That photo is just to funny..... I am not even close to that LOL.... I am more like a "Clark Kent" or even a "Jimmy Olsen".....sitting and rowing for a couple of hours or longer is rather soothing to me... I know that is strange, I am past the Butt Pain... and I use some good hand pads... so the blisters are gone. Even when I did run it was long steady distance, nothing fast. But Thanks for the photo...I laughed for such a long time... I felt like I rowed for a couple of hours..... Good luck everyone on your goals.... No matter how high or low they are set the main thing is to set them and follow them to the end, and in the end everyone wins.....

David.....

Over the past 3 days, the sign-ups for Team TimbukTWO for January's Virtual Team Challenge have doubled us from 10 up to 20 members! I believe that puts us well ahead of last year!
Thanks to all of you who signed up: Joseph W, Lisa H, Adam M, Jamie B & Kevin K! Also David W, Mark E, Kyle J, Amanda G & Mike M! I have a good feeling about this!
A reminder: Those who set goals over the past years covered over double the distance of those who didn't. I've seen some people already setting some Goliath-sized goals, but any reasonable goal you set will be positive for you and the team...

Hi Team,

Hope you don't mind me tagging along for the virtual team challenge. My logbook says I've been slacking the last few weeks (it's COLD here) and I'm hoping this is going to give me a little extra motivation.

My logbook also says that I'm very very slow. But kind of stubborn ;) If I can find something good on Netflix, I'll be aiming for 250k in January.

We'd love to have you aboard, Jonathan!! Not all of us (especially ME) on this team are fast. I row for cardio and cross-training. Grab an oar and get comfy!
