Crikey! What happened there...

Firstly, congratulations to all on the fantastic rowing in the challenge, a great team effort...

I haven’t been able to row the past week as I came down with either “walking pneumonia” or a viral infection of unknown origin. Tests have been inconclusive, but either way, I ended up with a night in hospital on a saline drip and plenty of rest this past week.
I’m feeling much better today, but resisted the temptation to row this morning (Janet said – no way Baz!)

And I’m counting myself lucky that I got through the climb a week ago without acute symptoms...

Thanks for the well wishes, and hopefully seat back in the rower within the next day or so!

Cheers, BBB B)

Another Reindeer....it's The General...(Lafayette)

Post by Kona2 » December 3rd, 2012, 12:22 pm

Image Another rower meets the Concept2 donation milestone... and frees a reindeer!

City of Fayetteville, AR adopted its name of Fayetteville seemingly because some of its early residents were from Fayetteville, TN....and Fayetteville, TN took its name from Fayetteville, NC because many of its residents moved from NC to Tennesseee...and all these Fayettevilles were named for a young French general, Gilbert Lafayette, who fought in the Revolutionary War. Whew. There's quite a story of the young General Lafayette's escape from a seeming inescapable situation near Barren Hill (maybe historian Ron will share this one). So Brian's reindeer is named Lafayette in honor of the young French leader....word has it that the reindeer herd calls him "The General" for his ability to land on and escape from just about any rooftop....

Congratulations, Brian M, on meeting the Concept2 donation level and getting your reindeer !

My back is feeling much better. It is amazing what an injection of cortisone can do! There is still pressure on the sciatic nerve and my right leg is weak and gives out if I try to run (with my dog) and while going down strairs :( I go to physical therapy on Thursday. Hopefully that will help.
What an amazing herd of riendeer this early in the challenge B)

Even More Antler Lights

Post by Kona2 » December 3rd, 2012, 8:39 pm

Image Woohoo! Dasher (aka Da Do Ron Ron) has earned his antler lights ...

Nightfall may be here but there are some new points of light....multi-colored light it is, too. Another rower has earned antler lights for a reindeer....and that means that the 200K milestone has been met, and the Holiday pin is on order! Whoop! Whoop! Congratulations, Da Do Ron Ron, on a fine return to rowing form....and on earning a Concept2 donation of $6.08 (at this time). Here I thought that it was Blazing Barb's four million meter celebration that was generating all that wattage....

Yippie! Sinead is out of the stable and training for her Christmas Regatta! I was thinking of asking you to name my reindeer Mocking Jay as I was watching the Hunger Games on DVD as I did my 1/2 marathon to set my reindeer free. I decided not to request a name as I was enjoying K2's creativity and bunny trails as each reindeer stepped out of the stable. I was curious what mine would be named. Sinead was the perfect choice! Thanks!

Karyn
