Kona, The reindeer name Prancer wouldn't bother me at all. There are many times in my life, I wish I could "prance"
Congrats Ron and Michelle for earning your reindeer names.

Its great to see all my friends again for this bad weather rower! I am always motivated and inspired by my team mates and all the other rowers. Very inspirational, everyone has a great story. I am in awe of everyone (including many other teams.) Keep up the good work.

Image Day 6 or 7 of 33

Concept2 donation $$ earned overall = $245.76

Concept2 donation $$ earned by our team = $11.33

Hooyah, there's lots of good rowing going on...and that means meter milestones! Be on the lookout for a chance to congratulate a teammate...because there are some million(s) that are clicking over on teammates' erg odometers. Meanwhile, our reindeer power meter is looking good! We've got 4 reindeer in flight school (training for the big night), and room for MANY, MANY more. In fact, with all the virtual loot, wishes for good health and cheer, and hopefully a few NEW ROWING MACHINES we need to deliver, we're going to need a few reindeer squadrons. Concept2 donations earned throughout the Rowing Universe are picking up - and it's pretty exciting to see that series of numbers. Last year, the Rowing Universe earned the first $1,000 on Day 9 of the Challenge. Like most goals, getting to that first big milestone seems to take FOREVER....

And, speaking of goals and big milestones....thought I'd better check in on Baz to make sure that he wasn't stuck somewhere on a rope during his climb of Sweet Dreams in the Blue Mountains...if you're wanting to read what our adventurous teammate from Oz is up to, here's the link to his "diary" http://www.thelandy.com - although must say that his Aussie slang sometimes sends me to the Wiki dictionary. Today's phrase of "dry as a Pommie's towel" was one that sure fit that bill. Again, you never know how much a teammate's stories are going to inspire and motivate others - and everyone here has a story or two or ten.

For those who can't row for any of several reasons right now - hang in there! It's frustrating not to be able to do what you might want to do, or not to be able to row what you did last year or last month. The team will still be here, and you're all still valued teammates. Right now, the focus is on the overall Rowing Community and being able to earn the Concept2 donation to help four different charitable avenues. We all know it's not just about raising the $$$ - it takes a lot of people power to help communities out, and there are many ways to contribute and bring awareness.

Season meters as of 209/365 = 86,467,778 m

Total meters on the day = 534,297 m

Oars in space (participation) = 38 percent ! Woot - that's a great number!

I would like to send out a congrats for all the milestones recently, as well as those that have already met the Holiday Challenge and earned the reindeer name :) I'm slowly working on getting there, have a few more days though.

Another Reindeer...it's Vixen !

Post by Kona2 » November 27th, 2012, 9:27 pm

Image More galloping reindeer !! It's Vixen !!

Wowzer, mates!! Rosi zoomed through those last few thousand meters!! While looking up all this reindeer "research", found out that Vixen is the reindeer who is considered to be the most graceful of all Santa's reindeer. She's the one who leads the reindeer trainees. That's what it says - really. Not to mention that all those skills are probably pretty handy for football (or soccer as we would call it in the US). Congratulations on earning another Concept2 donation, and freeing up your reindeer!

HOW could any of us slept through all the clattering of reindeer hooves as so many reindeer were breaking out of the stable last night?! Wowzer. Not one, not two, but THREE escapees... and, while none of the meter accumulations are time-stamped, I am sure that Jay was helping herd them. And, if you thought the Vixen story was a hoot...wait till you hear about your reindeer Cupid....according to SantaClaus.net, Cupid was born on Valentine's Day so Santa called him Cupid...besides Cupid was always trying to set up dates for the OTHER reindeer.... has his own Facebook page, too (really) ...

Image Cupid.....Jay's Reindeer (because that was the next name on the list...)

Congratulations, Jay, on earning the Concept2 donation and getting your reindeer!
