Alright, I'm new to this. Got my erg last thursday (based totally off of online reviews....I've never erged before in my life) and I've put about 60k on it so far. I'd like to join a team, but I can't figure out how.

That's great news! Welcome aboard! We're a bit less active this time of year, but this place really gets hot around the team challenges. You can read about those, and other motivational resources, at http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/motivation. We do track member meters all year and it is fun to celebrate milestones together. You can get as competitive as you want. We welcome all types.

Sorry I haven't showed up here for a few days...
I was dressed up as a turkey for a school pageant, and the zipper of the costume got stuck. So, I’ve spent the last 3 days in the woods, dodging hunters. But, there are two pieces of good news!
Firstly, it’s only a flesh wound. Secondly, the hunter agreed not to stuff and roast me, though I had to first promise to buy him a 20-22 pound turkey as a replacement!

Welcome to the team! I did the same thing...bought my erg without ever having sat on one of these contraptions. But that was almost a year ago (and 45 lbs ago) I'm a believer now! I hope you reach your goals, good luck.

Welcome aboard!! It is a little quiet here right now but maybe will heat up for the holiday challenge. I'm usually a posting fool but am out of town and it's tough to make sense from an iPhone.

This is the most amazing piece of exercise equipment - there aren't too many things that I can burn 1100 calories an hour on, or that can give a full-body workout - but you need to use it right. For example, a proper stroke should be about 70% legs, 20% upper body & 10% arms, while most beginners are running about 50% arms. So, it's wise to go back, watch some videos, maybe read a good book (best: Rowing Faster, 1st Edition, ited by Volker Nolte), and work on a balanced, smooth stroke.
I also use all the tools that are available - the concept2.com logbook, RowPro from Digital Rowing, the teams, the challenges, the leaderboards, nonathlon.com, c2ctc.com, concept2.co.uk, etc. In that way, my C2 doesn't end up as an expensive coat rack...
Welcome again! Read, discuss, join, compete and pull with us!

Ahoy mates! I'm finally back home from my expedition to the Texas Territories... Well-fed but not well-rested! No ergs to be seen anywhere around... :( So I made due with elliptical machines and running.

I think the pardoned turkeys turned recidivist and absconded with our Cap'n, who seems missing in action! So here are the numbers from Thursday... An intrepid and intrinsic 11 of 56 members (20%) logged 138,071 total meters Thursday!

Milestones achieved:
Gary and Cap'n Izz tag-teamed over the 1.3M mark!! Woo-hoo!

Approaching milestones:
Warren is nearing 350K (-14,618m), Dale is fast approaching 100K (-9,555m), and Vince is on the brink of 35K (-3,444m). Row like the Macy's balloons are after you!

Posted Meters:
Kyle J - 30,000 Big!
Yisroel H - 20,614 Last meters before being dragged off...
Jim C - 16,000 Holding steady!
Gary G - 15,091 Nice!!
Dale C - 14,787 Extra meters powered by stuffing!
Glenn Y - 10,023 Slipped on frozen cranberries and landed back on the erg!

Adam M - 8,000 Sweet!
Warren F - 8,000 Two 9's and an 8 in four days!
Kevin K - 6,456 No turkey here!
Keith J - 6,000 Looking good, building back!
Vince M - 3,100 Builds past the 3k mark! Woot!

Remember everyone, the Holiday Challenge is in full swing! You need to get to 100k to start earning. At 100k, you bank $.02/k for that first 100k for your charity of choice, and then for all meters after 100k, you earn at the rate of $.04/k. Be sure and record your selection of charity, and let's make it a great Holiday Challenge showing for Team Timbuktoo!! B) B) B)
