That is some mighty fine rowing, Ron! Congratulations!ronmardix wrote: Rowed a PR 3:29.2 (1:44.6 split) for the 1k yesterday, does that count?![]()
I can relate to that. Today I spent an hour or so toodling around sam's. Typically if i do that my right leg will start to go numb and tingly with back pain. But today, after six weeks of rowing -- No pain, no numbness. I didn't have to squat down nor sit down for pressure relief. The rowing is working for me.The Blacksmith wrote:Thanks-I am really careful about pushing it hard-I have had a disc removed from my spine, and have a few blown out above the one that was removed. So doing the big pull is a real gamble-I am always worried about crippling myself, so more than likely I won't be setting any records. The main reason why I row is that when I am fit I have much less chronic back pain, but once in a while I get foolish and go hard.

I'm in the heavyweight category. The C2 site has me at the 70th percentile, which oddly enough is my highest percentile of all the set distances/times.CONLEJM wrote:That is some mighty fine rowing, Ron! I'm not sure if you are a heavyweight rower (> 165 lbs) or a lightweight rower. if heavyweight, that pace currently puts you at #108 of 342, or at the 68th percentile for the males aged 40-49. If lightweight, it puts you at #16 out of 64, or the 75th percentile.
Sounds like you are making great progress. As you attempt the occasional PR for each distance/time, you'll start to see where you are strongest. For me, < 5K is my weak spot, and it has prompted me to train to increase my power. In a couple/few months, I will expect to see some improvement in my < 5K times.ronmardix wrote: I'm in the heavyweight category. Good row! Congratulations.TMike wrote:Since everybody else was breaking records I thought I would join the party. New 10K PR --- 41:47.3 at 2:05.5.

To be honest, I don't see this as competitive, at least not to a large extent. I would like to see all of us improve ourselves and get healthier. Actually, I would love to see you beat my 1k time.TMike wrote:...but being a man of honor I must warn you that I will be attempting to break your 1K record someday soon.
You did say that with a refined English accent, right?ronmardix wrote:To be honest, I don't see this as competitive, at least not to a large extent.
