ImageWelcome back to Scott and his wonder dog, Elvis! Service dogs are one of the best evers in life! There are so many different things these dogs can be taught, and the waiting list can be so long.

Congratulations to Da Do Ron Ron on his 16 million lifetime meters! And thank you, Minnie, for putting that song in everyone's mind....was a good find!

Meanwhile, what has happened to the Yankees? Surely we didn't send any Rockies their way....I'm rooting for the Giants, and hoping that the Cards have used up all their Get To The Next Series Even If It's the Ninth Inning And There's Two Outs...mojo. I’m feeling like a part-timer on the team of late. There has been plenty happening on the climbing front, and it is progressing very well. I won’t go into any great detail here but you can catch up on the news at my website http://www.thelandy.com

I’ll be back in New Zealand for three weeks in January, two climbing and about a week and a half of holidays with Janet & TomO... We’re all looking forward to that.

Many of the upcoming weekends will be spent in the Blue Mountains rock climbing to keep the skills developing.

Otherwise I will need to get more “saddle time in the C2” and knock out some distances and also some high intensity work.

Congratulations to all the recent achievements, and to all the new team members!!!! And good weekend to all...

Cheers, BBB

Baz, all of the climbing , racing, and adventure sports you participate are very exciting to read about. Some of us, live vicariously through these events. ( me for one) You know all the rowing you do when you train helps you to perform so well. So many of our teammates train on the C2 rower so we can do other sports or just live a more healthy and fulfilling life. Part time? Please! You like each and every one of my teammates, are full time participants in making life healthier for ourselves, families, and friends.

Completely agree that Baz's stories at http://www.thelandy.com are not to be missed. Good stuff - and welcome to the summer season in the southern hemisphere (see that Daylight Savings Time is kicking in for the Aussies, just as we're just a few weeks away from turning the clocks back!). Mountain climbing not for the faint of heart - love the quotes. And the TomO notes.

And a hearty team welcome to a new teammate: Jeffrey G ! Here's wishing you good camaraderie and lots of good rowing sessions!

Love your stories Baz.
Thanks you Kona and Ron for stats everyday and with so much other info and fun things. Sometimes it can get depressing over here but we believe progress is being made. Thanks for all the cheerfulness.

Looks like I've missed a lot of things in the last week or so. I would like to welcome the people returning to the team, as well as those just joining us. :)

Also a huge congrats to all the milestones reached, including our finish in the Fall Team Challenge!

Meteor Shower tonight ... news from Earthsku

Post by Kona2 » October 20th, 2012, 1:27 pm

Might be some good fireballs with this one...

October 21, 2012, before dawn. Orionids
The waxing crescent moon sets before midnight on October 20, and that means a dark sky between midnight and dawn, or during the best viewing hours for the 2012 Orionid meteors. On a dark, moonless night, the Orionids exhibit a maximum of about 25 meteors per hour. These fast-moving meteors occasionally leave persistent trains and bright fireballs. If you trace these meteors backward, they seem to come from the Club of the famous constellation Orion the Hunter. You might know Orion’s bright, ruddy star Betelgeuse. The radiant is north of Betelgeuse. The Orionids have a broad and irregular peak that isn’t easy to predict. More meteors tend to fly after midnight, and the Orionids are typically at their best in the wee hours before dawn. The best viewing for the Orionids in 2012 will probably be before dawn on October 21. Try the days before and after that, too, sticking to the midnight-to-dawn hours..
