Well Ron inspired me to try this 10/5000 I think doing 50k this way is actually harder then just rowing it..... below are my splits for today. finished with 50,110 counting the rest row. I was going to try for a pb on interval 7 but just didn't have it... but overall pretty satisfied with the effort....... just need to have more liquid on hand....and maybe 2 bananas and a coconut water....

Team keep up the exciting rowing going it....... great motivation within this team that is for sure....
Thinking of working on some sprints and maybe just maybe enter the regional event in Dallas......

AND I've had it! No more Mr. Nice guy! I'm gettin' in on this 50k-a-day thing........ ah.... sometime soon....yeah, like when I'm home for Christmas.... or maybe St.Patrick's day ....or maybe Next labor day......or maybe Thanksgiving after next...... I'm Not sure... but one day I'm gonna' do it!

Darn it!
I just passed 4000 meters/day average for the season, and Catherine and I are off on vacation for a week.
This will require some extra rowing when we get back.

BTW- Every day that you don't train I get closer.... I just got in from rowing another Personal best today. Most likely it was because you made your post about slacking and I saw my chance to make a move.

You 50K-A-Day rowers are a real inspiration. I can do a half-marathon, but the one time I tried a full marathon I crashed at about 32K. So my hat is off to you all!
I think I am a middle-distance rower. Anything between 5K and a half-marathon is where I seem to do best.
My personal challenge is that we are coming up on the halfway point of the season in a couple of weeks. Right now I am ranked in the top ten (M, 40-49, HW) in five rows (5K, 6K, 10K, 60min and 21097). Until recently I was in the top 10 for the 30min also, but I need to do a PB of 8451 (a 1:46.5/500M pace) in 30min to get back up there. I can do it, but I've tried twice and choked in the last split each time. So I hope to nail that this week. I would like to be in the top 10 for the 6 distances at the halfway point of the season. Of course by stating this, I have probably jinxed it!
As for the 2K, 1K, 500M and the 4min, I'm ranking well, top 20 or so; I don't care so much about the short distances, though in the second half of the season I plan on working on the shorter distances.
Well this team is a great inspiration, and Lisa and Cap'n do a great job of keeping us informed and motivated. Thanks to both of you!

I wish i could have rowed more for the challenge, but i have to take a break from rowing for a while. Achilles tendon is acting up!
But I'll be back, my old model C (I've had it since 1994) is waiting in our former dining room!
And by the way, totally impressed by the 50k a day rows!

My 50k rows were not single session rows by any stretch of the imagination - I've never even rowed a marathon. Those distances spanned the course of many hours. The first was 10x5k and the second was a pyramid: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 km.CONLEJM wrote:You 50K-A-Day rowers are a real inspiration. The pyramid scheme that I tried was easier, though I didn't care for the short sessions at the start and end.
Ultimately, I'm after a way to row 100km in one day. I don't see doing a straight 100km row. That seems horrendous to me. 2x50km? I can't even contemplate one 50km row.
Perhaps I should just try a marathon for once and see how that feels - though I have to say that even that looks daunting to me. The most I've ever rowed in a single session was a half-marathon.
Anyway, 1 full marathon coming up by year's end. Then I'll try to tackle the 100km day.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The advantage of the WaterRower, however, has nothing to do with rowing. For the actual rowing, the C2 is better, in my opinion. It was only when I got the C2 in June that I really started to think about competition and personal records. Those things aren't part of the WaterRower world, because it isn't really consistent between sessions or between ergs.
I'm hoping that within a year I can get to the level that you've attained. I am 49 and will turn 50 in May. So my standings will change just by virtue of my age.
