All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 10.9.12

Post by Kona2 » October 10th, 2012, 9:02 pm

Thank you, Mrs. Elisabeth Shiner, for putting Sunny back on the team posthumously. Many team members rowed meters with her in mind and heart yesterday and today.

Image Day 27/28 of 31

Wowzer, mates! This is a Challenge that is going to push us to some new meter boundaries! Greenville Indoor Rowing has popped out ahead of the Luna-Tics Challenge Team once again, although this morning they were in 4th place and the Luna-Tics were in 3rd. It is going to be that kind of back and forth meter run to the finish I think. Overcoming Disabilities is holding on to the 16th spot in this Challenge, and their average meters per teammate totals continue to be impressive. Great rowing by all members of our teams - everyone contributes to make these kinds of meter totals possible. (I'd really like to have third place back...)

Season meters as of 161/365 = 71,365,061 m

Total meters on the day = 1,832,712 m

Oars in space (participation) = 31 percent

Image Day 28/29 of 31

As of this AM, Luna-Tics Challenge team is in third spot in the Challenge and Overcoming Disabilities is in 16th (still in the top ten percent of all teams). Many challenge meters were added yesterday - and, Jim is absolutely right. It really helps to have teammates providing some shout outs to encourage each other - particularly during a Challenge. It is so encouraging to see teammates conquering some meter challenges they've put forth for themselves. Way to row Challenge Team Members!!

ImageMuch mention has been made about one of our competitors: Greenville Indoor Cycling (currently in fourth place in the Fall Team Challenge). First heard about Greenville SC due to some fabulous work the city is doing with cycling - and specifically getting cycling paths onto bridgeways. Turns out that Greenville also has a Rabbit Trail....a Swamp Rabbit Trail, and it sounds like another win for getting people out exercising with some convenient destinations in mind. Kudos to Greenville. (I'm sure that ours is a Mountain Rabbit Trail vs Swamp Rabbit Trail).

Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Trail (description by Greenville SC site)
Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 17.5 mile multi-use trail system that runs along the Reedy River connecting Greenville County with schools, parks, and local businesses. The GHS Swamp Rabbit will continue to grow throughout the county offering fun, non-motorized recreation and transportation opportunities wherever it goes. Thanks go out to the Greenville County Council for having the vision and foresight to purchase the old rail bed between Greenville and Travelers Rest which made the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail possible.

Season meters as of 162/365 = 72,591,574 m

Total meters on the day = 1,220,513 m

Oars in space (participation) = 39 percent

Whoa...almost MISSED it...numerical celebration!

Post by Kona2 » October 11th, 2012, 3:36 pm

I almost missed calling out a numerical event...mainly because I won't type Team Progress Thru 10.11.12 until tomorrow ... and by then, well it will be the 12th or the 13th depending upon which hemisphere you live in. The US is almost alone in the way we write out a day's date with Month, Day, Year instead of the more standard Day, Month, Year. Much easier for us to celebrate 12 December 2012 in just a couple of months. So enjoy a numerically significant day...
