Mike, you rock to the Nth power! B) B) B)

Do the Luna-tics have a logo? No! RowPro rowers? The Row Bears? NO!! The US Navy? NOOOOOOO!!!! (OK, well, maybe the Navy...)

I'm gettin' me a t-shirt!

The design is really, really nice!!! I'm uber-impressed. Only thing better would be Smitty puttin' that bad boy into iron. :D

OK, I was wrong about the "Land Rower" going the wrong direction! I got fooled because it's like a backwards tricycle, with the two-wheeled end as the bow and the single wheel in the stern. Here's a little video about the C2 land-vehicle conversion...

Sorry, guys, I should've known better when Damsel Lisa invited me to the Powder Room for some "naughty stuff" - I've been handcuffed to this powder keg ever since! Can't say the food's been bad, though!
I knew I was aiming for the stars when I put up a Fall Challenge goal of 300K. I still wasn't built back up completely from my 2-week hiatus in August, so I wouldn't just be able to hop on to my erg and pop out 25 or 30K at will. I also knew that Rosh Hashanah would interrupt one week, Yom Kippur the next, and the first & last days of Sukkot the following 2 weeks. With the Jewish holidays ending the evening of Oct. 9, that leaves me 6 days to do the remaining 150K.

To make life a little more interesting, a couple hours after my 12K row last Sunday just before Sukkot started, I started getting multiple muscle cramps. That included, at different times, the fingers of my right hand, my right & left forearms, my left shoulder, my left bicep, and both thighs. When I cramp, I'm never sure if it's because of calcium leaving my muscles too quickly, sugar entering my muscles too quickly, or water leaving my muscles too quickly. So I stopped eating, popped a few Tums, and started drinking a lot. Still, they didn't stop until I took a few Advils, which I hate to take within 24 hours of any workout since it can interfere with the positive adaptations of exercise. (The body signals a need to repair using inflammatories & uses anti-inflammatories to signal that repairs are complete. Aspirin & ibuprofen [Advil] both have strong anti-inflammatory properties, so they interfere with these processes.)
So, my Wednesday Half Marathon was done very, very gingerly, and my Thursday row was stopped before I hit an hour as I started feeling twinges.

So, all you guys and gals who are presently whipping my sorry butt, I advise you all to keep rowing, and remember the immortal words of Negro League pitcher Satchel Paige, "Don't look back! Somethin' might be gainin' on you..." I've fought my way back from 20th to 14th in the Fall Challenge, and YOU might be next to get run over by my Land Rower...

We used to do that back in college. In reverse order, though.

In all seriousness, get well Cap'n! Now you know the golden rule of rowing: NEVER STOP ROWING! Not for rest nor for holidays.

On this team, both women and men alike are putting up some crazy mileage. Two women flew by me the other day on their way to the front of the pack. Very impressive!

Row strong, Team!
