TimbukTOO Team Room
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks everyone! I will look at all those links after this post.
I agree, I think it is important for me not to compare myself to others, as I want to get into rowing for losing weight and a healthy lifestyle in general rather than competition.
I keep hearing about interval training. Is this so that you don't plateau? I have heard about mixing up the exercise routine so that your body doesn't get used to it but I still don't understand how all that works. Also on the interactive weight loss page it shows I think a 17 week rowing plan (for me anyway), but it has things like "2 x 18' UT1" for Week 1 Session 1, and "4 x 15' UT1" for Week 17 Session 4 (I plan on 3-4 sessions a week). What does that mean? I found the key for UT1, but the numbers I don't know what they're for. Does that mean 2 lots of 18 minutes or 18 minutes at setting 2? I couldn't quite understand it and couldn't find the key for them.
Thanks again for all the help,
Jordan

Interval training is one of the fastest ways to cardiovascular conditioning and increasing aerobic capacity, and apparently is good for weight loss. Lots of stuff comes up on The Google if you look there... The "2 x 18' " means 2 times 18 minutes. Found this thread that did a good job of not only explaining the interval notation but had some good suggestions regarding the UT numbers (untilization levels) and general approach.
Something we all should probably do in our workouts -- I should, anyway!
I see you're in New Zealand! That's very cool! I have a friend who relocated recently to Nelson, and just loves it. The pictures she posts are simply breathtaking. Ever do any water rowing down there?

Sweet thanks for your help Lisa! I went to Nelson with my parents a year or two ago and the food there is amazing. Food capital of NZ I reckon. Nelson had stunning sunsets too! I'll look into interval training, thanks for the info!damselfly wrote:Hi Jordan,Fat2Fit wrote:Thanks everyone! I will look at all those links after this post.

Today I did 2500 metres and I tried notch 4 at first, but was wasted after 1000 metres, so I put it down to notch 3 for the last 1500 metres.
I printed out some warm up exercises, and a motivation page to keep me inspired, and laminated them both. I then put em up on my sliding wardrobe door near the rower so I could refer to it. All seems well so far, though I did 1000 more metres than my first session ever, so hopefully I don't pay for it tomorrow :-/ though this time I did some good warm up and warm down exercises so I shouldn't, but you never know...
Thanks for the welcome! The update is quite cool, I like progress. Funny I should say that... my personal trainer from a few years back gave me a shirt when he up and left for London, that said 'progress' but the top third was cut off to match the word and all. Hopefully one day I'll be able to wear it because it was a bit too slim for me and he knew it lol.
After my exercise today I had a small glass of wheatgrass. I heard there's a small window of opportunity in which to heal your body, and wheatgrass has tons of benefits, so I thought I would have some of that, although it never tastes good!

Thanks Andy
It looks an awful long way to the next one, but onward and ever upward.
Visted the Nonathlon board today and saw Izzmeister at 11 and conlejm at 19 rather mocking my 38th place- repect to both.
Having to re row all my sprint distances (which I hate) to get rankings in my new age group there is always a challenge!
Keep on rowing everyone.

I likewise neet to re-row my 500M - 2000M distances for ranking; I HATE the short distances, and would rather row for an hour at ranking speed than for three minutes at ranking speed. This time of year is too humid for me to do much more than drudge along. A few more weeks the cooler and drier weather will arrive and I'll start applying myself. I also need to row a marathon; if I did one today at any speed I'd pop up to 13th place in the Nonathlon.
Row strong, team!

Hello all -
Permission to come aboard? I'm new to the forum and looking for a team to join for "everything rowing".... looks like this is a great group (after swimming through the forum this afternoon). I really want to participate in the Fall Challenge - to kick things off. Thanks for the reply.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Permission granted, sailor!! We'd love to have you aboard! March on up the gangplank, find a seat, grab an oar, and get ready to rock and row!! We have some great ergers on this team. I'm mostly along for the ride -- to report stats, add alluring alliterations, post silly pictures, and cause general mayhem. In real life I run and swim too, and rowing is cross-training for me. I couldn't keep up with these guys if I tried, but the great thing about this team is, everyone at all levels is welcome and all participation is lauded! (Let me know if you have trouble finding how to join the affiliation -- C2 has made it just SOOOOO easy to find.) When we get to the Fall Challenge we have a separate challenge team that we'll fire up.drykard wrote:Hello all -

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
I tried to sign up for the fall challenge, and discovered that I was a member of TimbukTwo, and that group wasn't entered in the challenge. Then I noticed that I've been posting on TimbukToo. So I left TimbukTwo to join TimbukToo, and now I think I'm out in the cold. Help! Throw me a lifesaver (cherry is my favorite)!
