Yes, Happy Happy Milestone, super-stats lady!

BTW, what kind of animal is Goofy? I'm leaning toward dog, but isn't it odd that Goofy can talk and he has a house and Pluto who is also a dog can't talk and has to live in a kennel?
and a happy birthday from me too :}....and wasn't that question about goofy part of a movie???????

Thanks again, everyone, for the great birthday wishes! I will check out the link also. It has been a fun weekend of celebrations, and it is always great to hear from virtual friends here as well (great cake, and great cupcake, too). And Goofy must be a hybrid of some kind.

I did manage to get the numbers captured before I was kidnapped by golfers this morning. I won't get them posted until tomorrow morning, but gotta say....wowzer! This team rocks! I count at least 8 half moons, lots of great participation, some mysterious number sequences, and lots of camaraderie. That's the stuff we're made of here!

Thanks, everyone, for rowing ! And, yes we have reached the moon once in our team lifetime...but we're going back as of this rowing season. That means our total distance towards the moon is our current total team distance of almost 34 million team meters....a number we've ALL contributed towards. The distance to the moon is 384,000,000 meters...so we're about 9 percent of the way there. The rowing season is young. We will start building the bulk of our meters in September with the advent of the Fall Challenge. Here is one of my favorite charts to show what happens to us in the Fall....get ready....winter's coming! (guess a new chart is due...)

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.23.12

Post by Kona2 » July 24th, 2012, 11:24 am

Up in the sky...it's a bird....it's a plane....no....it's
Image ! Welcome back for the 2013 Rowing Season!

Image

Just a couple more days until the start of this Challenge! Everyone can participate and earn some gold, silver or bronze. Lots of great stories about the athletes who will be competing this year. One of the must watch events for the Olympics is Men's Track 100 m where Jamaica's Usain Bolt is competing against fellow Jamaicans Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell...and Americans
Tyson Gay and Walter Dix. Don't blink because these guys are super super fast. Curious to know who Ronnie and Zander think will win? Blake's beaten Bolt a couple of times...

Also...women's cycling sprint showcases a great rivalry between Australian Anna Meares and Brit Victoria Pendleton. But the most anticipated slice of Anglo-Australian competition will come between cyclists Anna Meares and Victoria Pendleton in the sprint, which has emerged as the greatest rivalry in track cycling. From Associated Press columnist Dennis Passa on 12 July:

"The two haven't spoken much to each other since Australian Meares crashed with Pendleton on the track and was relegated at the world championships in Bordeaux, France, in 2006. "I was really annoyed," Pendleton says about the encounter. "She likes to push the rules. I don't."

Since then, their head-to-heads have looked something like this:

— Pendleton beats Meares in the 2008 Beijing gold medal final and again at the world championship semifinals the same year.

— Meares beats Pendleton in the Manchester World Cup semifinals in 2011 and again at the world championships in the Netherlands.

— Meares beats Pendleton in the semifinals at a World Cup meet in London in February — "I don't think I've seen three matches (so fast). We both paid for it," Meares said at the time. And at the world championships in Melbourne, Pendleton beats Meares 2-1 after a crash and a relegation in the semis.

"All sportspeople push the limits," Meares said of her dust-ups with Pendleton. "Sometimes the lines get crossed and the people who make the judgment on that are the," race officials.

Next up, with Meares and Pendleton level at 1-1 in races this year, the "Pringle" velodrome in London: women's sprint qualifying on Aug. 5, quarterfinals on Aug. 6 and the semifinals and final on Aug. 7.

With just one more medal in London, the Australian Olympic Committee says Meares, who is training in Italy, will become the first female cyclist from any country to win four Olympic track medals, and the first to win a medal at three games. "

And not to leave out the Paralympics (believe you can watch some of the videos on Sport TV as we're still working on bringing the world up to speed to televise these events, too): two events that are highly anticipated are (according to Brit Rick Edwards):

8. Rowing – mixed four coxed final (2 September, Eton Dorney)

There’s no getting around it, us Brits are great at rowing. Well, to be honest I’m not that good, but the mixed coxed four are and it’s all set up for them to boss their final in London next year. This event’s all about team work - one stroke out of sync, and you’ve blown your chances of a gold. Team rowing takes extreme discipline and plenty of practice, and it’s also pretty bloody exciting.

9. Wheelchair basketball – women’s final (7 September, North Greenwich Arena)

I know Ade wouldn't forgive me if I left wheelchair basketball out of my top ten, so in at number nine is the women's final - mainly because after winning BT Paralympic World Cup gold, GB's girls are in with a great chance of topping the podium. Look out for the free-scoring duo of Helen Freeman and Amy Conroy - they are more than just a little bit useful on court.

Good stuff to watch while you row!

Season meters as of 84/365 = 34,458,613 m

Total meters on the day = 723,876 m

He's taken his number and rowed that many meters today....you never know...could be just like half moon fever and sweep through the team!

Have a great rowing session...whenever and wherever you row!

I think we will sweep the 100 and maybe 200 on the men's side. On the ladies side, probably gold in the 100 and silver in the 200. Usain has been training much harder now ( he is a partier though) and should win 200m easily. I do think he will also win 100, but will not be surprised to see Yohan win. The only problem may be the weather in London. All 3 do not run well in wet weather and I don't think your Tyson Gay does either. He is very injury prone and we all know muscles can pull easily on a wet track.
Happy late birthday friend Kona.

Concept2 has put together an Olympics page with lots of good info on rowing, the athletes. It's on your logbook page, but just in case it's not easily available, here's the link:

http://www.concept2.com/us/racing/olympics.asp

Just realized that I did not put the amount of time available to complete these challenges: for the Rowlympics, you have 17 days. For the PaRowlympics, you have 12 days. You can do it ! Hey - I think even I can do it!

Meanwhile, many teammates are really pouring it on to complete those individual milestones. Have noted that Danno in particular is like a horse headed for the barn....he sees that ONE million meter flag out there in the near distance, and he is covering some good rowing ground. No offense, Danno...I am sure that you are a fine horse. :D No time like the present to start getting lots of erg time to earn those Rowlympic medals. Woot!

Season meters as of 86/365 = 37,129,882 m

Total meters on the day = 183,356 m

Oars in space (participation) = 16 percent
