LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I've read the first 4, I really liked them a lot. Waiting for the fifth book to come out in soft cover at the end of August. I thought the second book was much better than the second season of the show.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.18.12
Welcome back to Sarah and Tanya. Great to see you on the roster!
Ed McC = great that you ventured into the forum with a question that we can pretty much guarantee that all of us face from time to time. I'm going with the hydration answer, too. And not just hydration when you're actually on the erg. Hydrating well in the hours and day before you push the body is really key. A nutritionist with the Clifbar company usually spends an hour or two with the bicyclists preparing to ride the MS150. Her main goal is that if we take away nothing else from her talks, we take away the mantra of "hydrate, hydrate, hydrate."
Bonking not limited to those on the erg of course. There's a link below to an article about the Tour de France riders working hard to avoid running out of fuel themselves. The Tour de France riders are pushing up the last of the mountain stages today. Pretty tough climbs and Cadel is trying to hang in there, but I think he's done for as far as a top ten finish this year. Sorry Jane.

Bazzy, your photos are always exciting, you seem to go on so many adventures.
Today I hit 8 million lifetime metres! I'm going to go on a virtual tour from Ottawa to Parintins, Brazil, which is about 12000km away. You know, on an epic quest to find the fabled sports bag.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Appalled to read about the Colorado theater shootings, last night. Relieved to hear from Kona2 this morning. I don't even know what to say about that douchbag gunman, without sounding like a total anarchist. Madness.

just so scary and sad.....what would ever motivate someone to do something like this??????just27 wrote:Appalled to read about the Colorado theater shootings, last night. Avoiding the boink
Thanks for the excellent suggestions, everyone. I'll follow them for my next long row and we'll see how it goes. I normally row 2x/day for 4000 - 5000 m each session so I hadn't bothered much about hydration, but it does get warm in my basement during the summer. BTW, please excuse the newbie question but have we reached the moon yet?

Re: Avoiding the boink
I really enjoy the CBreeze accessory; can't imagine rowing without it, these warm days.EdMcCarthy wrote: ... it does get warm in my basement during the summer.

Our moon mission has a bit of a "Lost in Space" flavor, which does add to its basic charm! (Does anyone mind, dreadfully, if our destination is not the Earth's moon?) Our team Astrogator will doubtless set us straight about our exact position in the matrix, and the star date for the anticipated lunar landing. Boinks notwithstanding.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Apologies for the posting delays. I do have the numbers captured for yesterday and today. I will get the posting put together a little bit later today...we have many full marathons to celebrate, and lots of other kinds of milestones.
Colorado is a great state...and like other great places, sometimes really terrible events happen. Hug your kids.

Myth-busters on tV at the moment, and they are doing it on the moon, how appropriate...
And I'm with K2, hug your kids everyday.

BTW, what kind of animal is Goofy? I'm leaning toward dog, but isn't it odd that Goofy can talk and he has a house and Pluto who is also a dog can't talk and has to live in a kennel?
