Lisa

I have gone backwards too!

Now 30th in age group 6 minutes and 22 places behind our illustrious captain, penalty of doing an early pb and then sitting back.
Looking forward to being at the low end of 60-69 rather than the top end of the younger group, not many bonuses!

Just surviving it tomorrow is the challenge!

By the way everyone thanks for the explanations to Ron I would hate to think I was the only sad obsessive on the team. :D

Tomorrow I'm hoping to shave about 20 seconds off my lat HM time of 1:19:18.9. Not sure I'll succeed, but I'll try.

It has been a good 2013 for me so far; trying to get everything at or above the 95th percentile for the season. 2K and below I am a little weak, but 5K+ is going well.

This is how my 2013 is shaping up so far:

Sounds like there are at least four of us up for the challenge tomorrow. TimBukTOO will be well-represented!

This is really, really bad. I thought that I only had to obsesses about the standard distance rankings. I could deal with that by rowing 3 or 4 times a week. Now I learn that there is a daily average to deal with as well? Very bad.

Well survived the HM and took a lump off my pb- went I went on to Nonathlon to update who do I see at #12 in the rankings but our own conlejm huge respect to that man :!:

If there is anyone else I am not ignoring you just don't identify user name  but if the team has one at 12 and one at 25 there may be others.

Naaah not every day - take a day off and make it up on the other 6!

I have to be away 3 days now, I reckon I will have to do 10,000 a day for a week to get back on track, if anyone can correct my maths please do, please

Cool. Just completed the half. And I made it into the 1500 daily average list. Now for food

Finished the half marathon as well. Figures this challenge takes place on the hottest day of the year so far! 98 degrees and humid here :o . The basement where I row is cool, but still warmer than yesterday.

Finished in 1:18:56.4, with a 5 - 10 second water break, which I normally don't take.

Way to go, Keith, Ron, and Jim!!! I just finished mine as well. Jumped up a few places to 4th in a field of 10. Not too bad. Finished in 1:46:39.1, and the time I was aiming for was 1:50:00. This is the first time I've ever tried for time, instead of just to finish. It's hard to gauge when you start how much to hold back to make the distance. Managed to finish with some fuel still in the tanks and the last 500 or so was around 2:22, which is pretty good for me.

Yay us!!

Wow Jim I am starting to develop serious hero worship 12th in Nonathlon and ten minutes faster than my HM. I was on pace for much better (by my standards- below 2'04") but blew up 6000 out and came in at 4.8 in 1h 27m 40.

Well done to all- Lee quietly sneaked in there- and I guess as I am 5/8 hours ahead more may be coming.

the forum does motivate!

Hi Keith, I agree the boards motivate; our fearless Cap'n Izzz rows at paces that boggle the mind! Very inspirational.

I have a feeling by the end of the season my Nonathlon standing will be somewhere around 60-ish, using past years' scores as a guide. I have no plans to row a full marathon, so I lose the free 100 points there. And I think the big dawgs start to play in February, at which time I will plummet down the rankings.

Those of you wondering what the Nonathlon is ... see here: http://www.nonathlon.com/

Jim

I only made #123 last year and that included a (very slow) marathon just for the bonus points.

I promised my wife I would only do it once but I think I may have to go again though she says if I do and the marathon doesn't kill me she will

I have improved my sprint times but still nothing compared to what scores high, everything op to 10k I can manage at 2.00 pace but haven't cracked (or come close to) 15k in the hour.

My respect goes out to anyone that rows a full marathon at any speed. I am exhausted after today's half-marathon, I have an ache in my left hip and a bit of tendonitis in my left Achilles tendon. And even if I had a padded seat (which I don't) I don't think my butt could take it past the first 80 minutes!

Can you folks tell me what kind of maintenance you do on your C2? I have the model E and understand that it requires less time to maintain than the model D. How often do you oil the chain? Clean the fan? etc.

I oil the chain every couple of months, and have yet to clean the flywheel housing, but I have a pretty clean house and there doesn't seem to be any dust buildup yet. I clean the rail and seat wheels every couple weeks or so. Some magical process creates little black amalgamations of dust and grime that make the rail bumpy. A damp rag works fine. That's it!
