Technically, I was at the beach. However, I drove on a highway to get there.

Way to go Mark! That's definitely over my head, though; figuratively and literally.

I hope you do great!

Thanks Ron, I am working on that as a matter of fact..... working on some pace training for that now.... I know I can hit 50k in 4hours, since I don't have a rower at home, I work out of a club "24hr Fitness so my timing to do this might in the early morning hours...

And welcome to the team Catherine!!! Another husband/wife pair on the team. The couple that rows(1) together, doesn't row(2) together! :)

Row: Verb:
1.Propel (a boat) with oars
2.Have a quarrel
Well, we've never had to deal with def. 2 so the quote must be accurate :)

You got that right. As I was running some tests she kept looking over asking me if I was done. It was evidently her turn.

Thank you Izzz. I so like having a monitor again. I didn't realize how much I relied on it to keep me motivated and to keep my pace up. It seems that I was really slacking without knowing it.

I have to say, too, that I am finding that the C2 is a much better rower than the WaterRower we were using.

Did they do something to improve the noise of the Model E over previous models? We've been on a WaterRower for many years; we bought it because we live in an apartment and didn't want to disturb neighbors. From my previous life on a C2 in the gym, I remember it being much more noisy than I am finding this one to be.

From the site:

"Participants row or paddle small boats in the open ocean waters around Cape Ann, and conditions can vary dramatically throughout the day. Occasionally the water can be very rough, with strong winds and high waves.

While we have some powerboats on the course to monitor checkpoints, we do not provide boat escorts—you should expect to be out of their sight and fully independent most of the time. Unless you have solid experience in difficult conditions with the boat you plan to use, you should not enter this event.

Always plan an “escape” path to safety, and if you encounter any problems along the way, pull out and call to let us know."

Sounds, uhm, interesting?
