Yikes. Okay - to answer Danno and others on the email notifications:

Go into your user control panel and make sure that the email address in your profile is the current one. To do this, you will go to the second tab that says profile, and then down to the edit account settings. If you need to change it, understand that your account will be temporarily inactivated until you receive an email from Concept2 and clicking on it logs you back in. Rats and a few other phrases as I lost a posting.

Also, you can subscribe to a topic by going to the VERY end of the page and clicking the box that says subscribe to the topic. That is what generates the emails. I think.

Good luck with it.!

And happy Earth day!

Magnificent Marie :!:
Ron
And Baz, I don't know how many times I've forgotten to start my watch, or not pressed the right button and looked down and seen the numbers standing still  I also know how excited you can get when you think you are ending up with a much better time than usual. It sounds like a great event and that you did well and had fun-the most important part :!:
G'day Ron..must sday I don't get to hung-up with the times, but did think at the time that I had dfone much better than I had thought. Haven't done any distance running since Coast to Coast, but doing sprints in the park. All-up it was a great fun event... Mind you only a taste of what we'll get in Tough Mudder later in the year. Suffering from an inflammed achiliies from Sunday, possibly from the stairs... Cheers, Baz

First...a woohoo to bg, for trying something new by signing up for the Diva Dash! September 8th gives you some time to work on jumping, climbing, swinging portions of the race. The photos from some of the other cities give you an idea of running through tires or inner tubes, and I'm not sure what the giant beach balls are all about...do make sure you take a camera! I'll bet you have a great time!

Second...some of you will probably see yesterday and today's numbers in the mix on today's report. Couldn't get to it any sooner today!

Image The Marathon Mug

The Global Marathon Challenge....whether you decide to go for a half marathon or a full marathon during the Challenge period of the first two weeks in May - or some other time of the year - many of us have commented on going the distance, and what it seems to take. 10Ks and half marathons are a training combination. Half marathons, 20K and 30K distances are a good full marathon training combination. Concept2's training program has good commentary also. Here's the link:
http://www.concept2.com/us/training/pro ... rathon.asp

Throughout the year, many comments have been made by various team members about seat comfort during the long distance rows. The consensus (so far) is that buying a memory foam block that is about the size of the Concep2 erg seat is an affordable solution. Still, seems like you're going to be tired of sitting no matter what you do. Hydration, especially the day BEFORE the row, is pretty key - as well as during the row. Some teammates also suggest standing up and walking around every half hour or so during a long row. Good idea to test out what works for you prior to "The 21,097 m Event" or "The 42,195 m Event."
Hint: once the marathon completions start posting, marathon fever will catch hold and run through the team. Again. We do have TWO choices for marathon distances, but these have to be the exact meters, all in one sitting kind of marathons to meet the challenge. Our half moons and full moons, while very worthy, won't meet the criteria. No worries if you're not interested in participating in this challenge, or if you're interested but not ready (we celebrate them all year round!). Everyone has their own set of rowing goals - and this just might not be yours.

Image Your brain and rowing... you've probably heard a lot of statements about distance sports....running is 90 percent mental, and 10 percent physical is one that pops up frequently when you google the psychology of distance sports. No doubts at all that rowing long distances is a physically demanding challenge. You'll get tired (you know this). And there will be a point where it is hard to stay focused on the task at hand, and you want to give up. You'll get bored. This is where many teammates comment on the rowing mind games they play: maybe it's a mental countdown of how many meters to the next 20 percent completion mark, maybe it's a bargain you strike with yourself about stopping for a 30 second break when you reach the first 10K mark, or maybe it's a movie marathon. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. All these things are your strategies for a successful outcome.

And, when you've conquered this beast (if this is on your personal agenda), you may want to quaff a favorite beverage in your Marathon Mug (designed by Gramms of the Ducks in a Row team with blessings from Concept2). Treat yourself to a very unique (and so very earned) prize. The costs of mailing a marathon commemorative mug were prohibitive, and Concept2 gave this prize up a few years ago. Equally, if you're pretty proud of that half marathon (I sure was), then there are some frosty mugs commemorating 21,097 m on the same web site. Thanks to Gramms for making these possible.

Ok...it was a bunny trail.... Feel free to add to the thoughts!

Season meters as of 362/366 = 202,743,088 m
