Here's a link to the website where you can view a short video on obstacles they'll be maneuvering around during the 10.7 km. I think the biggest obstacle may well be the number of entrants! Good luck, Baz!

Our local temperatures just morphed from winter to summer, so I dug out the C-Breeze wind-sock thingie last night. I purchased it at the end of last fall, so haven't used it much ... but, what a big difference it makes. I felt positively invigorated and cool, with my hair blowing in the breeze. As the advertisement says, "I am my own biggest fan!" Just thought I'd mention it, while my enthusiasm is high:

The bandit strikes again....

Post by Kona2 » April 21st, 2012, 6:58 pm

The scenario: an early tee time, quick capture of the numbers, make a sandwich to go...load the clubs and get out on the course. Later that same day....at the top of the stairs...the evidence was there in plain sight. Clearly the bread bandit had struck again. What was several slices of bread in a plastic wrapper was now reduced to shredded plastic and maybe half a piece of bread.

Mug shot of the suspect. You've seen him here before. The carbo kitty took advantage of my failure to put the bread into the pantry....whoever heard of a cat that snags sandwiches, loves bread....I'm sure we feed him enough..

What a great event, very well run, and despite the numbers no delay on any of the obstacles. I kept the big fella in check (brother-in-law) all the way, wasn't going to let him get the jump on me today! We crossed the line together and just waiting on official time but we think around 65 minutes for the 10.7 klm, happy with that, especially given they found some stairs to climb that I didn't know existed near Darling Harbour... Recommend the event if you get a chance!

cheers, BBB

First off thanks to all for the Atta Boys.

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the email notifacation system that lets you know when a new post is made. I haven't gotten a notice for 6 months. Is there a fix?

I've never received an email saying that a new post has been made (that'd be often, we're a chatty bunch!); but I used to get an email when there was a personal message in my Inbox. Haven't received one of those "PM" notifications in months, so my "fix" is to simply stay logged-in. That way, you can always see the User Control Panel at the top of the page; it shows new message alerts. (You can also choose to hide the fact that you're logged in, for whatever reason.)

Congratulations on a fine finish, Bazz! Some of the photos of the event from news agencies around the world are spectacular - and with the harbour as a backdrop, not surprising! Articles mention the steps on Hickson Road - wondered if those were the ones you learned about "on the run" so to speak?

Hi K2...fantastic backdrop. I must say the steps on Hickson Road and I are very well acquainted as they are only a few hundred metres down the road from work, and I do them often. The 'other' ones were at Pyrmont, near Star City Casino, maybe they just felt harder being at the 8 kilometre mark!

Also, got our official times...was 72 minutes, not 65 as I thought. I went off my watch, but didn't set the timer, so must have thought I started about 5 minutes later! Was thinking 65 was good for me!

Cheers BBB
