Dude, you're a Machine!dpw4812 wrote:What a great challenge... I don't know about anyone else but I am beat... what a year. I never in my dreams I thought I would get to do so much rowing...
I have a question to the team, How many do different pulls in other words do you do the pulls like your in a kayak? or do your pulls under hand like your doing curls? I don't do either one I did for a short time but felt it would be better for my form to stick with the standard.
With out the support of this team and this website overall I really don't think I would have taken to this as hard as I have, having just started back Nov 2010 this is really first full year... I am amazed at how I feel after I finish my 2 hours or longer. now if I could get the captain's speed I would be on cloud nine.....
I don't do any fancy pulls, I leave that to the Rowbics people. I try to stick to the form that would serve me best in a real boat.
I know I wouldn't be doing as much rowing if not for this team. I still go for quality over quantity, but I always feel funny not doing a few rows a week (even if I know that I lifted weights, rode my bike, stair-climbed, or ran on a treadmill, I still feel like I let the team down) - at least 2 longs and one hard.
DW, you're the one choosing stamina over speed, don't blame me! How about doing 15 very hard pulls once every 15 minutes or so to build up your speed and VO2Max? Maybe one speed workout a week (like 6 - 10 500m pieces with 2 or 3 minute rest periods in between), trying to beat your last time each workout?
Either way, your tendons & cartilage must be made of steel...

Brilliant. Thanks for the laugh!Quatroux wrote: I'm glad you asked. Gyms generally offset, or outright pay, beautiful people to exercise. Some larger gyms have even figured out when visitors are most likely to come into the gym and coordinate around that. I'm one of those beautiful people.

What makes you think it's a joke? I know that gyms actually DO this type of thing... In fact, I have 3 gyms paying me to NOT show up!Hummingbird wrote:Brilliant. I've been propositioned in the locker room before, but it isn't what you think. A guy slipped me $5 to keep my clothes ON until he left the room.damselfly wrote:Lol!!! Actually, I once had a naked man stand very close to me and explain (in great detail) that he swam in his "fast" shorts in the pool that day. I was sitting. He was standing. Looking back, I wish I had $5 so I could "pay it forward".

Once again, I'm grateful I have an albeit modest home gym!Quatroux wrote: I've been propositioned in the locker room before, but it isn't what you think. A guy slipped me $5 to keep my clothes ON until he left the room.
