I always like to talk about how I got "into" rowing and my journey.In 1994 I worked as a trainer at Bally's Gym.There were 2 rowers( not Concept2) in the corner and no one ever used them.I became intrigued and started to use them and saw results in myself.I would row for hours it seemed..on breaks and in between clients.I then began to introduce the rowers to my female clients as ways to sculpt their bodies.I was cursed at and many a face were made as they climbed aboard.But they saw amazing results.Success for them.My husband knew of my sudden love of the rower and found Concept2 and ordered one for my home gym.I was thrilled and could row at home and started to log in my own journal meter after meter.It wasn't until much later that I discovered the Concept 2 web site, the log ins and all the prizes given then for meters and milestones.I rowed and rowed, logged and logged then somewhere around 2000 or so i discovered the teams, the challenges and rowed over a million meters in a challenge that was an individual one.I was then recruited by a team and began my journey thru the teams, community and challenges.It has become an essential piece of equipment in my home and I have logged way over 21 + MILLION meters.I have tee shirts, sweatshirts, Concept2 glasses( an entire set) , rowing shorts and and a nifty duffle bag as prizes and incentives.Pins, certificates and so many other motivational items.Enough to say, hey I can really row!!!The journey has been long, exciting, paired with my professional life and my personal goals and achievements.I have met super people..here and across the pond.No intimidation factor and little cost.and great health and fitness and weight control and let me tell you..at 60+ I feel like a kid..LOLOLOLOL.Row for fun , health and sanity!! there are always overuse injuries but can be handled easily.Hope this adds to other's stories!!

I'm glad you asked. Gyms generally offset, or outright pay, beautiful people to exercise. Some larger gyms have even figured out when visitors are most likely to come into the gym and coordinate around that. Yes, I'm back among the living.
I also rowed a Full Marathon today, since I was 40,500m below my WEC goal, and as a Cap, I feel much more guilty not hitting my personal goals.
Last week I reached the 7 Million lifetime mark, and broke my personal best for season's meters (last year, I did 2.679MM).
Today, I did my 3rd FM of the season to add to my 20 HMs (haven't counted up my 25Ks yet, though). It put me over the 7,500 meters per day mark for the full year (a 366-day year requires 2,745,000m), and over 300K for the WEC.
However, it looks like I won't have time to break speed PBs or SBs until next season...c'est la vie. I'm still patting myself on the back for a very nice season, with a good balance of speed and fitness.

Personally, I'd only spring for the PM4 if a) you really want the extra games, b) if you want a much faster response out of the monitor (the PM3 reads the LogCard very slowly, the PM4 has a faster chip with more memory), or 3) if you will buy the Suunto heart rate monitor to get the extra info that the Suunto system harvests.BoB/335 wrote:The other day I mentioned to a personal trainer that I talk to once in a while at my gym, that I am considering buying a rower for home. The Model Ds are what is presently used for all races including the CRASH-B Worlds. Both have excellent re-sale value (they will lose less than $25/year in value, even while used regularly). The E is supposed to be much quieter, but the D is just like putting on a [slightly noisy] fan in your window. (If you're upstairs, get some thick "cow mat" under it so the vibration doesn't go through.)
Frankly, the logbook, forums, RowPro, standings, etc. provide virtually everything my traveling to the gym would do. They challenge me, motivate me, and keep me involved.
And, as a fellow diabetic, who uses the rowing as "my meds" - although by doing both intense AND long rows, I can get 48-72hrs of sugar control instead of the usual 24-48hrs - I also can't afford to NOT row. In fact, if I don't row for about 4 days, I feel fluey & like I'm "rusting shut". Yes, negative motivation often does as well as positive motivation...

What a great challenge... I don't know about anyone else but I am beat... what a year. I never in my dreams I thought I would get to do so much rowing.
I have a question to the team, How many do different pulls in other words do you do the pulls like your in a kayak? or do your pulls under hand like your doing curls? I don't do either one I did for a short time but felt it would be better for my form to stick with the standard.
I don't have a rower at the house so my rowing is done at a club close to the house in the early morning hours prior to work. I may get in some evening hours while Yo is doing her aerobic classes.
I am amazed at how the personal trainers only bring people over for warm ups and fail to explain the overall body workout or the aerobic workout that you can get from.. I even heard one say while I was doing my 2 hours that anyone can row all day... s I was finishing up and at a 2:14 500/avg for the the 2...
With out the support of this team and this website overall I really don't think I would have taken to this as hard as I have, haveing just started back Nov 2010 this is really first full year... I am amazed at how I feel after I finish my 2 hours or longer. now if I could get the captain's speed I would be on cloud nine.....
