Hooyah! In the rowing universe, there's a pretty short list of rowers who have completed ONE million meters in a Concept2 challenge...and now Walter's name is on that list. Completing a million meters in a challenge is a big deal - doing this in 21 days ...in-cred-ible! Congratulations, Walter! We wish you many more millions!
And....deciding he might as well make it a two for one (although, it might be a hat trick or a trifecta with a full marathon or something like that), he's also scored his second million meters of the rowing season.... more incredible !
Looks like it was another 55K day for Walter - which makes this a red giant - and that's a definite hat trick to row a red giant to complete the one million meter challenge, AND cross the line of a 2 million meter season.
Woohoo and hooyah! Congratulations, Walter, on achieving a TWO million meter rowing season! We wish you many, MANY more!!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.7.12
Another episode...
Seems like such an appropriate day to head down the bunny trail....even if the trail might be littered with chocolate bunnies, eggs, and other stuff on this day.
It all started with the arrival of Adventure Cyclist magazine. I don't always get a chance to read it right away, but it's always something to savor. Places to go, and unique ways to get there...and they're all self-propelled (kind of like the erg, but the scenery changes a bit more ). Although, Peter H often tells me that the rowbike is the ultimate answer to combining rowing and cycling - and then the scenery would change while erging. This time, though, it wasn't the magazine stories that sent me down a bunny trail...it was an ad for bicycle tires. It said simply "The journey is the objective. Not the end." Baz is fond of saying "it's all about the journey" as our individual and collective meters move us through the rowing universe. Where else would we learn about door yards, or know people who are competing to qualify for Olympic or Paralympic teams, or run ANOTHER Boston marathon. We have all kinds of remarkable teammates who wouldn't be stopped in their pursuit of life's adventures by any obstacles. Thanks to everyone for making our rowing journey more than just a collection of meters.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I live around an hour to an hour and a half from the coast. Close enough that I was able to make it there every couple weeks most of last summer with some of my family. Those were just trips to the beach though Lot of people generally but still nice to get there.macbruce1 wrote:A-YUH Are you near the coast? For the past few years we have rented a cottage in Stonington. It is a long drive, but we love it there. We love that it is not real "touristy" and that it is still mainly (no pun intended ) a working port. It has the second largest lobster fleet in Maine. We are usually there the week they have the Lobster Boat Races.
Last year one of the boats, broke the speed record.

Just to pick up on Kona’s post above...Currently I’m reading “Born to Run” a book that I have found difficult to put down over the past couple of days, and would like to highlight a couple of sentences. And by the way, that Leadville race sounds extraordinary, right in Kona’s back-yard it would seem!
Chapter 7... “And if I really wanted to understand the Raramuri I should have been there when this ninety-five year old man came hiking twenty-five miles over the mountain. Know why he could do it? Because no one ever told him he couldn’t. No-one ever told him he oughta by off dying somewhere in an old age home. You live up to your own expectations...”

MILLION Team Meters...
The numbers tell some of our stories. Daily meter contributions are running at a fast fast clip as many teammates push themselves towards a new meter goal for the season...and, for some, repeat meter goals. Maybe you didn't know you were going to have that goal (those surprise goals are just the most fun, aren't they?!), but suddenly there...it....is ...and you are determined to get there. You go, rowers!
Season meters as of 347/366 = 195,080,262 (19 days until 2013 Rowing Season begins!)
Total meters on the day = 538,292 m
Oars in space (participation) = 29 percent
