LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Forum was down for awhile - will post (finally) in a few hours. Busy, busy day! I like those kinds of days!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Bidding all Luna-tics a lovely weekend wherever in the universe you might be...
We change our clocks back this weekend, so it will be a bit lighter as I make the morning walk to the ‘shed’ on Monday, well at least for a short while...
TomO is heading for his Rugby trials today, and he’s all pumped, and Janet is counting down to Easter when we depart for Fiji for a week of R&R...
Cheers, BBB

Another episode....
There they were...just strutting down the street, roaming through the neighborhood yards...grazing on front lawns. Stop the car...get the camera! And while bunnies might indeed also be found doing most of these things (except the strutting part), this was another bit of urban Nebraska wildlife....behold the wild turkey. Believe me, these are not small birds. And they aren't just found in Nebraska, either.
Now it might be that you've only seen a turkey at your local market, or on the dinner table. These turkeys, somewhat like the chickens of Fair Oaks, are going to hold up traffic. Some fear they might round up your kids, too. And, since it's mating season for turkeys (who knew?!!), there are going to be feathers flying and tales of bird aggression. Must be spring! Here's a link to a fun article on the wild turkey phenomenon. It should be noted that at least at the time of the article, Alaska is the ONLY state without a wild turkey population. There's probably a reason or two for that!

We have a lot of turkeys in my area as well. I remember a couple years ago one had seen it's reflection in the bumper of a truck and thinking it was another turkey... attacked. It actually did a fair amount of damage to the truck, they can be quite aggressive.
