Hello all, looking to join a team

Post by bcurry » February 29th, 2012, 10:47 pm

Hello there. pretty much a newbie here. Have had my rower for several years but onl recently have I been living up to my commitment to use it more and seeing the great challenges coming up I was hoping to join a team.

However, I am a little uncertain about how to do it. It seems there a few open teams correct? Does that mean i can just assign myself to them via my logbook profile or should I reach out? i tried to PM some peeps but it appears I am too new to the forums to have that functionality.

Thanks for any guidance you can give me. As another post said , just don't want to step on any toes as i become part of the community.

And question #2 while I am here. For the march madness individual challenge, do i need to indicate or click something somewhere to show/say that I am participating or will it automatically consider me included if I am posting to my logbook daily?

thanks for your guidance!

I was asking something very similar to this just a few short weeks ago. There are several teams that are open to join, I joined the LUNA-TICS team (you can just add yourself in) and have been very happy with the decision. There are a lot of great people that have welcomed, motivated, and inspired me. Plus they are always willing to help out if you have any questions. I'm sure that many teams would be happy to have you along, very best of luck whichever team you go with.

As for your second question: if you have an online logbook, all the meters you row will automatically count toward the March Madness Challenge.

One of the mysteries of being part of a team does indeed have to do with the difference between a challenge team and an affiliation. The affiliation team is the one where you go into your profile, scroll down, and select the team you would like to row with for the year round opportunities. During a team challenge, you can select to row with your affiliation team (if you've joined one), or you can sign on with a challenge team and still maintain your individual status. You sign on with a challenge team when you're in your logbook, scroll across the top to team, and zoom down the page to where it says join the challenge. You can select teams there.

Everyone likes to have people join their team. Some people join the team conversations right away on the forum, and some are quiet contributors. And every time someone asks a question, guarantee that there are a lot of other people that want the answer, too. The key is whether or not you get the support you're looking for from a team. There are many good teams out there - it's just a matter of what fits you. Of course, we hope you'll choose Luna-Tics... :D

Hi there,

Let me throw in with Cap'n Izz and say we'd love to have you on team TimBukToo!! It's a fun, diverse, and encouraging bunch of folks. It really has kept me motivated and active with my rower, which would otherwise be gathering dust and used to dry clothes or something.

To find out more how to join a team, check out the team member page. We are active in team challenges under the slightly different name "TimBukTWO".

We'd love to have you aboard!
