I don't get it, and am very skeptical on this guy's post. I'd like a take on this one from our experienced rowers. Izz?

Unless there's something fundamentally different about what rowing does in a cross-fit workout. I mean, "To make my point clear a damper setting of 10 (8 for women) should only be used for pieces under 150 meters"... A piece UNDER 150 meters? My flywheel has just about spun up after 150 meters... In this case the machine would just be performing like some other weight-room resistance machine like a weight stack or something. Not as a machine to work out as a rower. So, I don't think the suggestions would be pertinent for us here.

Anyone?

I was wondering about those comments myself. Kinda ignored them as I read as most of the other stuff seemed interesting. Main points seemed emphasis on proper form, being careful of injuries, and lower damping and slower stroke rate for good workouts. Made sense to me.

Been sick for a few days now. Bad chest cold. An effort just doing some light exercising. Might have done some rowing if I had one at home. :o

damselfly wrote:Hey everybody,

I'm going to propose changing the meters capture time. Right now it's 7PM Pacific time, except Mondays when it's early, and Fridays when it's late. Some folks have -- not complained really -- just mentioned that they don't always make the cutoff. For me, it's also just about when I'm trying to feed my hungry and tired spouse.

We originally made it that time to get the meters posted on that same day, but that's become unworkable on a consistent basis as well. So, hows about the capture gets done at 9:30 Pacific, and things get posted next day.
As one of the people on the west coast, I think it's a great idea--providing it doesn't complicate life for the Captain (you're the one suggesting it, so I figure it's okay by you :D ). Whatever the decision, you're both doing a great job of holding us together. Much appreciated.

Here's how I picture your day:

8:00 Awake from 20 minute power nap

8:00 - 8:01 Consume one Red Bull - feel satisfied knowing this is your only source of simple carbohydrates

8:01 - 8:02 Eat 1 tablespoon of unflavored protein powder - no time for mixing it with water - considered mixing it with red bull, but decided against it

8:02 - 19:00 Row

19:00 - 19:01 Eat chicken breast and a handful of almonds marinated in 5 hour energy drink

19:01 - 19:02 Post meters on Concept 2 - Add 5 seconds to your split times and reduce total meters rowed to "keep it competitive"

19:02 - 7:39 Row

7:39 - 7:40 start 20 minute power nap by chanting "catch, drive, finish, recover"

That's how I do it too. One Angus Chipotle Bacon Burger (800 cal) and a Large Fries (500 cal) = row 16,250 meters ... :?

Yikes... 1300 calories is a 13-mile trail run, a 15-mile flat run, and who knows how much rowing. Actually, 3 hours, or 33k.
