How suitable is SkiErg for Swimmers?

Post by Mandai » February 18th, 2012, 9:45 pm

I consider buying the SkiErg as it seems to help developing the trizeps which is important for (the finish in the) freestyle stroke. And I'm a big fan of cross training to break the boredom of swimming only, especially as I'm training for 10-20km open water events. Any swimmers amongst the SkiErg users who can comment on how useful the SkiErg is? (Note that I'm a latecommer to swimming (running & cycling background), i.e. middle-of-the pack swimmer that still need to develop the swim specific muscles :)

I use the skierg regularly and have found that, despite not swimming very often these days, I swim quite well when I do. Not only does it work the triceps, it also works the lats and the core muscles very well. I would have thought that swim coaches would be on board using it for land training.
