Do you think he'd go faster if he dropped the drag a notch or two and kept his head up to avoid cutting off his oxygen to his brain? I think the short slide is the least of his worries.mikvan52 wrote: short sliding his way into the record books

Short sliding ? looked pretty good form to me until the end as I cannot recommend puting your head between your knee's unless your trying to kiss your ass goodbye ! His form went to hell near the finish.
Crazy rating, I guess you can only do 46spm as a lightweight, thought mine was bad at 32 spm, perhaps I need to rate up and definatley change the drag, that looked to be set at 10 !

65 strokes rate 46/47
Looks fine by me, certainly not shortstoking, drag indeed a bit high but the rate does compensate for that, he seems to cope with it, he really died in the last 500m, so maybe even more to come. Strong row and he looks very fit and strong
His head is a bit out of controle, but I don't think it does much to his stroke.
Look at Wr holder on the marathon Paula redcliffe, her headmovement makes your eyes hurt, but it does not hinder here much, does it?

Great job by Gary.
I'm in the same age class, and hopefully the same weight class soon. I can hit 600 watt pulls (about what he averaged) but can't sustain it for more than 100m so far, but maybe borrowing some of Gary's technique will help. I find when I pull that hard the front of the C2 comes off the ground and I need to weigh it down, most likely because I'm putting a lot more leg into it which results in a more abrupt end that isn't countered by a strong enough back/arm pull.
