It's about time mate!

Yesterday was a day off for me (only 7k) since this city (Portland) gets paralyzed when a single snowflake hits the ground. By the time I got through all the panic there was only time for a short row (heck, I could have rowed home faster than the drive!).

Oh, and "Glenn" is that other guy. He wastes consonants. I mean, what is that second "n" for anyway? You're already there. It's like getting through the finish line and then taking one more stroke just to show off :)

A beautiful day of California rowing has taken us from the heights of the Sierra Nevada down to 214 feet below sea level!! We ended yesterday at 6,126,839 meters, or 3,804 miles, and overnighted in Furnace Creek Ranch, Death Valley National Park. The date milkshakes at the restaurant there are to die for, lemme tell ya. :)

No water to speak of here, so we're scraping up the bottom of the boat pretty badly, but that good ole TimBukTWO spirit cannot be stifled!!

Today we'll be climbing out of Death Valley, heading through the thriving metropolis of Pahrump, NV, population 36,000, where their motto is "Your Base Camp to Adventure". :) Then it's on to Las Vegas, or as it's known hereabouts, "Lost Wages".

Row on, team!!

Not meaning to be discouraging in any way shape or form, has nobody mentioned blisters under calluses yet? Whimper. I've brought this on myself, I know (and PS Blacksmith: it won't stop me  ). Fortunately, thanks to several previous posts on the subject, I had the information I needed to order a pair of NewFit gloves, ETA 5-8 days. I just wish I had done it 5-8 days ago. :(

Blisters under calluses... That sounds just amazingly awesome  No, no one had mentioned that yet. I look forward to that one. I am very much considering some of the NewGrip gloves, however I can't help but be concerned about the size of my hand, I do not personally know anyone with hands as big as mine and finding winter gloves is an absolute pain... Maybe I should just contact them and see what they say. If I am going to keep up the rowing, it would probably be a good thing to have.

*edit*
After looking at them more... It seems the fingers are supposed to hang off the end anyways, maybe I should just bite the bullet sometime soon and get them...

Okay, the curiosity is killing me: that's the second time you've mentioned your big hands and there's no picture to limit my imagination to normal boundaries. Are you the Friendly Giant? :)

Could this possibly mean that I get an easy day if I want it? Or will the lure of migration pull me further south?

It's snowing right now, so make that a yes, because as in Portland, a thickness of one snowflake is enough to make our hilly roads unpassable to all but ATVs, and having slithered around the road the other morning, I'm not up for it again. So, what to do but row or make Oreo ice cream? Can't fit my kilt yet, so it's rowing and no easy day. Maybe I'll try the Big Bang--but only during my rest periods. Thanks for the heads up, Mark!

PS Thank you everyone for the encouragement yesterday. After my row yesterday I was so butt-tired, literally and figuratively, that I didn't have the energy to do more than cheer on Lisa. By the way, Lisa, your name is up on the homepage as the weekly winner, but I didn't see a picture or story yet. I'll check later.

It's not that I am a -giant- per say. I am only 6'2", however I do wear a size 15 shoe, and rarely do size 2XL gloves fit me, not from a matter of thickness because my hands are rather skinny, but purely from my fingers being to long for the gloves fingers.

I do need to update a picture onto here someday though, at least an avatar since I plan on hanging out for quite some time.

You're missing out by not having that extra "n". What would CNN be without the second "N"? What if you took the second "n" out of dinner? You get diner and instead of eating, you are waiting for your food!

I like to think the two n's stand for something like "no-nonsense" or "nitro-ninja" or "never-normal". I'd add a third "n" if I could.

BOTH!!!!

With so much rowing going on, I do not feel guilty eating an unhealthy snack once in a while. I always check the calories burned on the PM3 after each row, and ballpark how many calories I've eaten throughout the day, and then if the math works out the right way . . . I do have the Doritos! :D
