Hi there,

I'm Fernanda (fmlcrochet on ravelry) and I just started rowing last year. My husband wanted to get a rower for a more full body workout and I ended up being the one who enjoys it more. I was doing pretty well until summer when outdoor fun distracted me. :) Glad to be doing this challenge as it has reinforced my enjoyment of rowing. In addition to the rowing, I'm trying Jillian Michaels' "Ripped in 30" DVD which means I am BEAT after doing both. It's all good.

I crochet and knit. Right now I'm working on a top down cabled sweater in the knitting department. In crochet, my 6 year old requested a white skunk so I'm trying to come up with something. So far it looks squirrelish but we'll see.

Everyone keep up the good work. Looks like we're doing well.

Hi Team,

I'm Bankster23 or Joan (Jody) Banks-Smith from Northern, NJ. I have been rowing on and off for the past five years always on land, although I'd like to try water some day. As for knitting, I tried my hand at it, but didn't get too far. I did however try crocheting this December and have created 3 scarfs. My next two projects are to create a baby's blanket and an Steeler's afghan.

So, I'm hoping to keep motivated by being on the team which in turn is helping me get ready for the CRASH B's in Feb. Anyone else going to the CRASH B's?

Besides rowing, I'm into cycling, mainly road, Zumba, rollerblading, and geocaching.

Cheers,
Jody

Hi All!
I'm excited to be part of the team. At Thanksgiving, I was at a low point (and my weight at a high-point) and I decided then to do something. My original goal was 100,000 for the Holiday Challenge, but ended up at 256,000. So I set my goal for the team challenge to see if I could hit 300,000 in a month.

Today I hit a personal-best of 20,000 meters on the rowing machine. Yay!

When I first resumed my rowing at Thanksgiving (late November), a 3,000 workout was a trial. I never thought that in such a short amount of time I'd have worked up to being able to do 20,000 in one sitting and not fall off the machine and die on the floor. I'm going to look into the half-marathon, and see if I can set that for a goal for myself.

Thank you for giving this opportunity to be a part of your team, and to give me a reason to keep pushing. I have been getting up at 4am to do my rows, because I have a 1-hour commute (each way) and work about 9 hours...once I get home I'm tired...and have been going to bed at 8pm just so I can get up at 4 to row.

This has made a huge difference for me, and I appreciate the incentive. On my own I'd probably reset my alarm and gone back to bed at least once....a day :)

It's great to hear from all of you!

Welcome to the team Holly! Glad to have you.

Karen, Your pony is beautiful--thanks for sharing the video. The US C2 site doesn't have an interactive training program like the UK site does. We do have some great workouts to try at http://www.concept2.com/us/training/resources.asp. I find that I don't lose a lot of weight (regardless of my exercise level) unless I change what and how much I eat. Exercise certainly keeps me feeling good though, so I keep doing it!

Jody, I'll be at the CRASH-Bs, filming for the C2 webcast. It would be great to meet you. Have you raced before? Do you do the Pittsburgh race (assuming you are near Pittsburgh because of the Steelers reference)? I grew up in Indiana, east of Pittsburgh and my mom is always in a better mood when the Steelers have won! Go Steelers!

Cindy, your schedule is so impressive! 4am? I could never get up that early, but then again I don't go to bed until 10-11 either. Keep it up!

I have one more night of knitting a yoke on a sweater and I'll be finished with the whole sweater. Can't wait to move on to something new and look at a different color than gray for a change!

Have a great workout today ladies and a great weekend!

Dena

Hi everyone I'm Gail, on ravelry I go by Adroit. I picked that name because I'm trying to become adroit-skilled etc. So far it is very applicable to frogging things.

I row because it makes me happy. I don't know if that is because it feels good when you stop or it just plan makes me feel better. I think it's a bit of both. c2deena thanks for setting this group up. I've been slacking after a muscle pull and it's a great incentive to get back into rowing.

Hi Dena,

I've never rowed in a competition before and for many years wanted to do the CRASH B's. Due to health reasons, I haven't been able to workout consistantly for over 5 years. Having a "sick" home and constant flooding, we have relocated and my health has improved 100 percent. So, although I have only been rowing since the beginning of December, my workouts have been improving every day and I and feeling great.

As for the Steeler's, my husband (he grew up there) is a fan even though we live in NJ. I've never really watched football, but have since we got married 6 years ago.

I'll look for you at the CRASH B's.

Finished a scarf for my twin sister and will start to crochet a baby blanket in a few minutes.

Happy rowing! :D

I am so impressed by the meters that our team is posting!

I took a couple of days off to rest up for the Nike+ Womens Half Marathon on 1/15, but I'm back to rowing now that the race is over.

Go Team!

Thanks! I'm very tired :) This is SUCH a stretch goal for me. I'm not sure I've done 300,000 in a season before, much less a month. I did 258K for the Holiday Challenge, so I'm around 558K for the season (I only started rowing this year at Thanksgiving). I'm tired. Did I already say that?

:)

But I plan to keep going, see what I can do by the end of January. Then I'm going to take a few days off from the rowing machine!

This has been fun! I'm glad I joined the team!

Hi everyone,
I had to take off the last two days so I could race in the Cranberry Crunch today on Cape Cod.
Thank goodness it's over so tomorrow I can row out the last 12,000meters to hit 200,000. I'll try to have something left for Tuesday.......
This has been a great team to row with,
Terry

Whew! Challenge is over. Just a reminder that you have until Feb3 to enter all the meters rowed through Jan 31.
Good job team!
