Great commentary and stats - all makes for great reading and occasional chuckle. What does the sea spray taste like izzy? Bet you wished you hadn't rattled the chain of the monster down under :D keep up the good work everyone - the second half of the challenge is where we all have to focus and keep going - especially those who have almost reached goals. Row team row. Tyrone

Hey All,
After a day of rest-well, not quite true. I was the striker (swing a 6 lb sledge mashing metal) at our class, and thanks to erging so much I could (and did) hit harder than anyone else-pretty cool at 46  Getting back to the thought, I did my biggest row ever this A.M. 30k!! B) 1550 calories burned. Now to go and unload the truck from yesterday

Oh, and the first hammer was forged with a rock-kind of hard to hit a piece of glowing iron ore with a stick. If you want to see some cool stuff, just do a youtube search for blacksmith and striker.

Good morning teammates!! Well, we DID make it to the outskirts of Reno last night, so good job!! We were at 4,990,202 meters last night, or 3,099 miles. Outstanding for 14 days of rowing, I'd say!! We'll be in California in no time, and into some of the prettiest scenery around -- the Northern Sierra Nevada.

Surprisingly, we're still finding some water to row in. The Truckee River is just off I80 here, and is giving us a little practice avoiding rocks as we make our way downstream. Get ready to start rowing uphill again though!!

Lisa, that is really cool.... hmmmm I wonder if we can make it a round trip... That would sure would be something :o With this team it sure shows that you can't take much time off. With all this encouragement going on....Is kinda driving me to row even on the one day that I take off.......

Well I just figured out how to program intervals on the PM3. I rowed three 5K intervals with a 90 second break between them as an experiment. The results show a 15,049 meter total distance, so there must be some residual meters accruing during the rest stages as the flywheel winds down. What I don't like is that the rest periods count towards the total time rowed. So the two 90 second rest periods added three minutes to the overall time. Still, a pretty neat feature.

I'm sure Yolanda will appreciate that, too!

Man, I remember seeing my son when he got off the plane after boot camp; sure, he was slim, but it was his posture that blew me away, standing and walking around so naturally poised and straight, with no puffing out of his chest; just relaxed and... Wow. I was impressed.

So you get there, David! And to help you reach your goal, Mark and I and Kyle and Jim and...and...and...and...and...will be right behind you, nipping at your oars!

Heather.

Is the boat going Aussie? Does that mean that it will alway's be the cox's shout? Guess I'll need to start being careful about rooting for the team as well.

(for those of you who haven't spent time down undah, let's just say that the Aussies have a way with words)

Hey, welcome to my winter home. Just up the river a bit is the quaint little hamlet of Squaw Valley. Hop off the boat and I'll show 'y'all around.

Oh wait, zero inches of snow. Let's just keep rowing!

You bet we are Tyrone! It has been sub-zero temperatures here in NH for a couple of days and I am looking forward to warm, sunny Australia - even if we have to row there!
