Speaking of no rest for the wicked, er I mean weary, we are only 410k behind the #8 team. If we all keep on the way we are, and even push a little more, I think we might be able to take them.

...and I'm right back out of the top ten as Michele and Monica just went blazing by while I was admiring the scenery. OK, I see how it's going to be around here!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
I feel your pain. I get done in by David and our little "Hummingbird". I now realize Hummingbird is probably a very apt name-ever see how many times a second a hummingbird flaps its wings??
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
After I row at lunchtime and upload my data I get as high as #7 some days, but by the next morning I am usually back down in the mid-teens. This is very intense!glenmbaker wrote:...and I'm right back out of the top ten as Michele and Monica just went blazing by while I was admiring the scenery. OK, I see how it's going to be around here!
I don't want to, but I gotta take a day of rest soon or else I'll get tendonitis; maybe I'll just row at half-speed or break it up into small intervals. Kind of like taking a walk instead of running.
However I am all for pushing a little harder to overtake the #8 team! Count me in!

Hah! Tomorrow is my LSD run.... I'm going to shorten it to 6 miles and row in the afternoon while my hubby watches football. Boy, do I get to eat tomorrow! The Blacksmith wrote:Remember LSD--Long, Slow, Distance (not what you were thinking was it??)
I got a second wind today and you all shamed me into hopping on the erg and banging out 9k. I hope you're pleased with yourselves!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks; that's really good advice. I need to keep LSD in mind. I'm always trying to crank out new personal bests and rank them them on the boards. I think these month-long distance challenges are better suited for LSD-type erging and not sprinting. The Blacksmith wrote:Remember LSD--Long, Slow, Distance

From the "you're about to feel inadequate" category.... This from the Concept2 Facebook feed:
Apparently the row was in the neighborhood of 210k. Yikes.Concept2 wrote:New World Record: Congrats to Matthew Rockett! Longest Continual Row, Lightweight Men 20-29, in 42:30:01.8! Nice Job!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
I can already feel inadequate enough on my own, thank you very much
210 kilometers--words fail me.
Thought I'd put up (rather than shut up-not very good at that ) 27,000-2hours 8 minutes-1500 and change calories.
AND got up 2 hours earlier than I needed to on a Sunday to do it. (nuttin like a smug, self righteous attitude )
Now to go pass out on the couch

Yes!! We rested on the outskirts of Des Moines last night, halfway through Iowa!! 2,444,526 meters, or 1518 miles on Saturday night! Fine efforts, team!! Cap'n should be proud when he gets back to the boat today. (Hope he can find us on I-80!!)

Good one, Glenn! If I promise to row faster, can I get the two hours of my life back wasted watching that movie?!?!goyo wrote:Hey Lisa, damselfly wrote:

No excuses, Glen! Squirrels are hibernating in Iowa, so you don't have any distractions. (Oh, and I see you did 2000 millimeters to get you over that 300k mark, NICE... )
Smitty, you're amazing, but I'm afraid you're going to flame-out, man!!
