Knotty Knitters Team Room

Post by c2dena » December 23rd, 2011, 3:27 pm

Hi Knotty Knitters!
I have set this team room up so we can chat more easily with each other. I hop you're all getting excited about the upcoming challenge. We are up to 12 confirmed members which is awesome! There are 5 other members who are on the team, but not confirmed yet. Hopefully they will join in with the rowing for this challenge.

I am finishing up my 200,000th meter of the Holiday Challenge today. A few of us here at Concept2 set up a pseudo-cinema in the workout room and watched a movie together while we rowed before work. Fun! I am so psyched that I am going to meet this challenge! I am really ready for it to be over. I will take a much-deserved week off from rowing and get back to it starting January 1.

A little about me as a knitter: I have been knitting for over 25 years (since I was in high school) and generally everything but blankets, takes too long. My most recent new learning is all about Fair Isle knitting. I love all the possibilities of color and pattern! My current projects are a slouchy hat for my teenage son and an owl sweater for my daughter's college roommate. Next I will make some Fair Isle fingerless mittens for my mother-in-law who loves to be on her computer but keeps her heat very low.

Can't wait to hear form you all!
Happy holidays and Happy New Year!

Hi! I should hit 255K for the Holiday Challenge tomorrow morning (I was originally shooting for 100K and just kept going!)

Ordinarily, I do the Holiday Challenge and the Valentines Challenge, but other than that row sporadically. (I never row April-October, when I can be outside here in Minnesota to hike and bike).

This year, however, I have set myself a challenge to keep rowing past the Holiday Challenge, so I decided to join a group for the Virtual Team Challenge. I've been knitting since I was in 3rd grade (long ago!) so when I found this group I decided to join in. My goal is to row another 200K or so in January.

Thank you for allowing me onto the team! I'm looking forward to having this goal to push towards in January!

Cindy

We're on the board with over 50,000 meters! Well done team. I'm going to go put in a few meters myself right now. If I'm at home, I generally row easier pieces while watching cooking shows. For some reason the time flies by during those shows.

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm hoping add more meters this time. My running has been curtailed while I try to heal a sore hamstring. I've decided to bail on the Nike+ Half Marathon on January 15th and focus on making the Million Meter Club instead - only 267,000 to go after today :o

Hope your hamstring heals quickly Fiona (Is your name Fiona? Which one are you on our team?). You aren't far from a million!

We are over 100,000 meters and counting. Cindy is rockin' it with the most meters so far. Way to go Cindy!

Hi

I am also Holly, but I knit better than I row. :) This is my first team challenge, and the Holiday Challenge was my first challenge. I rowed just over 100k.I am amazed by the meters members have put in this far!

Cheers
Holly

Thanks for having a nice hook (pun intended) to help choose a virtual team. I've crocheted since I was about 8 years old and just love it. Being a good New Englander I'm also an avid Gardener and own the warmest dressed dog in town.
I'm an indoor rower (4 years) who loves the various challenges, especially where there is a pin involved. It's what makes getting those 200,000 meters every christmas doable. I'm off to a slow start this January but I have high hopes for next week.

Hi,

I'm Amanda (also LandShark on Ravelry)...I'm a much, much better knitter than rower! Not rowing too much these days, as I'm training for a half marathon (not that I'm a great runner, either). I haven't been on the water in years and years (I rowed for an intramural team in graduate school, then paddled/coached dragonboat for quite awhile), so the erg is all I've got.

Really, really impressed with the meters some of our teammates are logging!

Hi Team. I have been rowing on and off for about five years now; all my rowing has been on the indoor rower. Closest I've come to rowing on water was last February when I was on a Concept2 in the gym aboard a Carnival Cruise ship! I have been knitting since I was pre-teen, so that's been a while. I also have horses which I ride and drive. That's pretty much what keeps me busy.

I had great intentions for the Holiday Challenge, but the dang holidays got in the way! Its now time to get serious and drop a few pounds, though. I am using an interactive weight loss training program from the Concept2.co.uk website. I don't know if the US website has this; at least I haven't seen it. Dena? I used this program five years ago along with WW diet to drop 25 pounds, and since returning to the US, the land of milk and honey (or is that Milky Ways and honeybuns?), the weight has crept back on. :>0.

Glad to see how many people are on the team this year. We're dispelling the image of knitters as little ole grannies sitting in rocking chairs.

Row on!

Karen, known as luvmypony on Ravelry.

PS - here's one of the things that kept me away from the rower over the holidays. I'm the one on the short, stocky, pale colored horse. She's a Norwegian Fjord named Bella.

Cheers!

Karen
