How cool is this?! I wondered if Concept2 would raise the amount of their donation if the rowing universe blasted through the goal...and they have! Nice.

We're Luna-tics right?!
So to those of you who responded about committing to a HM on the first day of 2012, I think it would be best to just say we all plan to get one in some time that day. Coordinating time zones and such would be difficult, but we would be together in spirit and intent, so that counts in my book.
I'm looking forward to the challenge and camaraderie. Just knowing that there are others making the same commitment will be a motivator. Just post when you've completed it, with any comments about the row. It'll be like we're working out in the same gym, just different areas, and we met up afterwards to share our experiences.

Count me in, I might even get to do it before your clock ticks midnight!! Cheers, BBB

New Year's Eve in Southern Hemisphere!
Bernie (NZL) and Aussies Dave H, Baz, and Angelo will get their usual headstart on the New Year ...was going to include a photo from Whanganui, NZL, but couldn't get the upload to work from my secret mountain location. Rats. Whanganui (or Wanganui) starts a fine bunny trail...goes back to a cycling tour that started with the Tranzalpine Train that goes from Christchurch to Greymouth (which is near where Baz will start his trek). The bike tour followed the coastline starting with the Tasman Sea...absolutely beautiful scenery.
We did not get to see one of the world's two earthbound elevators though....and Durie Hill in Wanganui is the site of one of these. Of course, you can take the 176 steps to the top instead...
We're all rowing under the same moon but the southern hemisphere will be looking at the left side of the crescent, and the northern hemisphere will see the right side. How fitting that New Year's Eve marks the first quarter moon (which we call the half). We're going to have teammates potentially mooning us from all over the rowing universe.

Happy, healthy, peaceful and successful New Year to all!
Congratulations for the amazing achievements in 2011!
Ron's 5M, Rosi's 3M, Zander's 2M, Ken H and Terri's 1M for this season and other achievements beyond rowing (like Baz's 28km bush run) are just a few recent ones... You gals and guys are amazing!
Happy New Year rowing!
Andrea, Sorin & Anna
