Well, I got my son and his family sent back on their way home the day after Christmas and was thinking that I'd surely have more time to dedicate to rowing or starting my training for the 15k I want to run in March but no such luck.
My husband brought home a nasty cold that he has so kindly shared with me, so now it's my turn. Ugh! I can't remember the last time I had a cold. What a bummer!
So I'm going to get some rest in the next few days and shoot for a 1/2 marathon row on Jan. 1 to start off the new year. Anybody want to commit to doing a half with me?

Congratulations Ron! your achievements are inspiring, and as a consequence of all that effort... frequent! B) B)

Would love to commit to a half marathon on Jan 1 Jodi, however I won't be anywhere near the erg on the day... or for the first week of the challenge :( .
We've had a surprise (best kind!) holiday opportunity drop in our lap, so its off to South East Queensland for the next ten days or so... :D B) :D
We will be sure to have some long morning walks on the beach at Coolum in honour of the erging I will be missing... closely followed by a fresh espresso and cooked breakfast. I will commit to a half marathon once I get back, just to start the post indulgence calorie burn!

Good luck everyone!

Best regards,
Dave

Absolutely. I'm commitable. Do you really mean doing it "with you" (i.e. coordinate time zones, start at 4pm PST/7pm EST) or simply being right there with you, in HM spirit, on Monday? Whichever. Hope that you're feeling better.

Barbara - even at home, a guaranteed start time is sometimes iffy ... AJ's currently in one of his uber-erging cycles and has to be "convinced to yield." (Anyone who knows the words can now break into "American Pie.")

Well, my wife is planning on going to Yoga on the 1st so I can attempt a HM. However, that means a starting time of 10:30am CST for me (or thereabouts) if I were to do a HM. It would be a good start to the new year :).

Sanity tells me to just do 10k instead though...

Sanity has nothing to do with it! We're Luna-tics right?! :P

So to those of you who responded about committing to a HM on the first day of 2012, I think it would be best to just say we all plan to get one in some time that day. Coordinating time zones and such would be difficult, but we would be together in spirit and intent, so that counts in my book.

I'm looking forward to the challenge and camaraderie. Just knowing that there are others making the same commitment will be a motivator. Just post when you've completed it, with any comments about the row. It'll be like we're working out in the same gym, just different areas, and we met up afterwards to share our experiences. :)

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.28.11

Post by Kona2 » December 29th, 2011, 10:39 am

Hope all are getting some well earned rest for a day or two prior to the start of this next Challenge....especially if you're going to leap into calendar year 2012 (and Challenge Day 1) by virtually half or full mooning the rowing universe :D . For those who think 21,097 m in one rowing session is beyond your current comfort zone, we do offer the half moon distance award - unique to us :D - that gives a half moon for anyone rowing a half marathon distance in a 24 hour period!
