Hi Everyone. I own a Mod C that is in great shape. It has about 1.5M meters on it. It has a PM2 monitor. I am considering upgrading to a Mod D so that I can just connect the unit to Row Pro vs switching out monitors, etc. I have a few questions:
1.) What is a range of price that one should advertise the Mod C for? The unit is located in central Wisconsin.
2.) I haven't used Row Pro before but the scheduled sessions appeal to me from a motivation/camraderie standpoint. Is Row Pro a good investment?
3.) For those of you who have made a similar change - should I upgrade the Mod C woth or should I sell it and get a Mod D with a PM3 or PM4?
Thank You!

Well I still have both a Model C and a Model D in "As New" condition and the decision to upgrade to a D was because I could rather than because I really really needed to.
The model C is very close to the D and if you fit a new handle and a new PM3 monitor you are almost there. Fit a new chain, Model D shaft and quiet sprocket and I think you will find that you cannot tell the difference.
Really have kept both for reasons like I repair the monitors so I need to be able to test them and two Ergs are going to look good in the near future with a room dedicated to Erging with a 32" Flatscreen running RowPro !
Yes RowPro is great, what else can I say, the Erg just wouldn't be the same without it. Jump onto the Digital Rowing website and have a look at the scheduled rows and see if there is something set-up in the timeslot you want to row online.
People that like RowPro Online fall into a select group. If you need some motivation or are quite a social rower but also you can focus on your own training and not be put off by being beaten then it's great. If however your a person that just has to win everything then chances are it's not for you. It really is quite something when you get a full field of 16 rowers online at the same time and it totally changes the way you see and feel about the Erg.
Essentially RowPro gets your Erg "On the water" with others from all round the world without any of the hassles of OTW rowing

With only 1.5M meters on it, it is hardly even broken in. At a 2:00 pace, that is only 100 hours of use. Even at a 2:30 paddle pace it is only 125 hours. In other words practically a new machine, especially compared to those used in clubs. It is the monitor that you need to upgrade, not the model.Cheesehead Dave wrote:Hi Everyone. P.S. If you are a Mac user, consider getting a PC for dedicated use with RowPro.

Why not just fit a PM3 to your nearly new model C? All the model Cs in the gym I use have PM3s.Cheesehead Dave wrote:Hi Everyone. I own a Mod C that is in great shape. It has about 1.5M meters on it. You'll probably get a good price for the low usage PM2 (as long as it's been kept dry and hasn't ever had any leaking battery trauma).
Re: Concept 2 Mod C - Sell or Keep
Keep the Model C. Buy a new handle and/or monitor if you want, but the C is a more of a bargain now than it was 15 years ago.
