A new team member!

Welcome to the team, Nataliya! That is quite a fish you've landed...and with a deer farming background, you will be a big help with all these reindeer jumping around. We'll look forward to you getting your reindeer pretty soon!

Enjoy your R & R. You've earned it. Where is up north for you? Don't get frostbite erging on the porch. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Karyn

Up north would be Glens Falls, NY about 50 miles N of Albany.

BigBrett58 wrote:Hello all! As should come as no shock, I was rather burnt out after the fall challenge. I took it easy for a bit and then started working in some jogging and bike riding while the weather was still tolerable. Work have been crazy for about the last 5 or 6 weeks. I started working quite a bit of overtime. With the exhaustion of long hours, my rowing started dwindling worse and worse until I didn't row a single day last week and only once the week before. I decided enough is enough. This week, I made a commitment to not work extra hours and get back to rowing every day. It's so easy for me to go off in one compulsive direction or another. I need to continue to find the balance point between work, family, my health, and my hobbies.

In other news, a good friend from work decided to get a Concept2 erg after seeing the success I've had with it over the past year. He's had it for a couple/few weeks and is really enjoying it. He's had back problems for awhile, but I don't think he's having any back issues while rowing. I'll get him signed up on the team sometime soon.

That's all for now. I hope all is well here in Luna-Tic land.

PS - Thanks for the T-Shirt Kona!
Welcome back, and congratulations on the 3 Mm season! (I was wondering where you were off to.)

Crikey, plenty happening in here this week, birthdays, milestones, Danno heading off for R&R, Brett is back, new team members... and those reindeer keep on multiplying!

Good weekend to all, and it is hard to believe it is only about a week before the big bloke in the red suit turns up!

And just noticed, my total metres pulled up at 12,999,646 this morning...

Cheers, BBB

Reindeer...reindeer....reindeer....

Post by Kona2 » December 15th, 2011, 7:08 pm

Whoop, whoop and hooyah! Life is busy here at Reindeer Central (especially at this time of year!)! Apologies for the delayed posting...had several appointments about town today, and just couldn't get the posting done prior to venturing off. I did note that we had two new reindeer as of this AM (there might be more now). Dennis' reindeer is going to be named after the ancient Sumerian goddess of beer (seemed appropriate). Don't know how versed everyone is on their World History, but Sumerians were some early converts to life in towns vs all that hunting and gathering post-neanderthal stuff. I wouldn't be remembering all this too clearly either, but AP World History is a class that a certain high school senior is taking... and what the kids take in school suddenly seems to be something that the rest of the family learns about as well.

Congratulations to both our reindeer recipients on getting past that first 100K milestone! Well done!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.14.11

Post by Kona2 » December 15th, 2011, 7:45 pm

Wowzer, mates! We're almost at FIFTY percent as a rowing community ! Those $$$ are pouring in! When I was capturing the meter totals this AM, there was an increase from 13,929 to $14,051 in just ten minutes. Good things are happening! People are rowing! THIS team is mega-rowing! Many reindeer getting set free from the reindeer stable (already we are 20 percent richer in reindeer "stock" than previous year). Who knew that the jingle of sleigh bells was the call of the erg?!

Image

Ok - so this graph isn't valid. We don't have that much $$$ anymore. Reindeer leapt right off the charts.

Absolutely stratospheric! Keep those meters rolling in ! There's important work to be done!

Lovely place. I camped up there many years back. Little did we know when we booked our site it was a race weekend. It was very busy in that quaint NY town. One of my better memories is of our hiking through a lovely gorge in the area. Have fun.

I had a feeling you were needing a much needed break with the amount of meters you did for the fall challenge. But now you can say that you did something that only a few people could do.

Another reindeer ! With antler lights !

Post by Kona2 » December 16th, 2011, 12:10 pm

The Arctic Circle is pretty close to Zhigansky Russia, home of Nataliya ! At this time of year, it gets pretty dark for most of the time...and there's a definite need for some antler lights! Good thing that she's earned her reindeer AND some antler lights....not to mention the Concept2 donation of $ 2.23 ! We'll name her reindeer Polar!
Image Polar (Nataliya)

Not sure exactly what kind of deer in the photo - but great photo! The deer's nose is somewhat square kind of like a caribou, but I think it's not a caribou...

Woohoo! More than FIFTY percent of Concept2 goal!

Post by Kona2 » December 16th, 2011, 1:01 pm

This team has rowed an amazing amount of meters through 23 days of the Holiday Challenge....14.4 MM meters as of this AM's number collection. With a little over one week to go, it is clear that our team members are motivated to earn some donation dollars to help make some good things happen in Vermont. Way to row, team ! We've raised 151 percent of the targeted goal of $300, and have now earned 1.5 percent of the total amont that Concept2 is seeking to donate!

Image

Next year, if Concept2 repeats this opportunity to earn dollars towards a charity, we'll have a better idea of what the pattern of contributions might be. Didn't quite use the same graph opportunities last year!

PS - Getting ready with the rest of the posting...but it will be a couple of hours from now.
