Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks for the tips, guys! I don't have one of those garden kneeling pads, but I CAN score some bubble wrap pretty easily, so that's the first thing I'll try.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
This is more expensive than bubble wrap, but I felt it at last year's CRASH-B's & it's well-padded - and has a pocket for your iPod...cindyreck wrote:...But a HUGE problem for me is that my butt gets so sore I can hardly stand it! It's downright painful and that's after only about 15 min. I spend the last 15 min. of my workout trying to shift myself around on the seat so it doesn't hurt so badly. I got one of those foam seat cushions from C2. Eh. It helped a little, but now it doesn't help at all. I've tried putting a folded towel on the seat- feels good at first, but then not so much after awhile. Anybody else have this problem? I am so amazed that people can stay on the rower long enough to row a half-marathon or even crazier- a full marathon...

Re Rower's Butt:
When all devices fail, as they usually do (everything compresses, eventually) try clenching the butt muscles as you pull back into the finish (when the legs are nearly fully extended) then relax when you're about to go forward (the rhythm is intuitive, I think): the contracted gluteus muscle raises you off your sitting bones for a moment or two (where those two bright red patches form after rowing) and increases circulation in the area, reducing the likelihood of the skin breaking down during endurance rows.
Even doing this a few times when you start to get sore will help considerably. I row 20 km 4-5 times/week in 5 km splits, and doing this practice, I really only get unbearably sore when I'm doing catch up metres over 20 km. I also stand up between splits and flex and stretch. To reduce the risk of abrasions from friction, wear lycra type shorts (ie skin tight) and either a thong or nothing to eliminate any ridges that sweat can pool in and start to crust up with salt. Salt equals fine sand, resulting in rashes and pain. Cross fingers, I've avoided both since changing the style of my workout gear.
Hope this helps.

I wondered how long it would take for that to register: 2 and 1/2 hours.
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
funny posts.....
I row in my cotton underwear at home.. but at the gym I wear lycra fast drying underwear, and fast dry polyester shorts.
I have not noticed a difference, so I wont bother with the thong at this time.
Its not a pretty picture, anyway- me-rowing in a thong.
Actually, i feel lucky i have not needed to use bubble-wrap, foam pads or towels to pad my bottom.
Maybe we should stick to politics.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
It comes from the team affiliation page, which is where the stats program gets all its information. On the day that got reported, your season meters crossed over the 350k mark. Whenever a rower crosses a major milestone we like to give them a shout-out.BoB/335 wrote:Where does this number come from?Izzzmeister wrote: while Bob G hit 350K!

So to become a member of the million meter club you have to hit that number within a season?

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Nope! It is a lifetime total. Go to the challenges page, and down a little on the left is a section called "Indoor Rower Million Meter Club" and it will give you some details.BoB/335 wrote:So to become a member of the million meter club you have to hit that number within a season?
Which is a good thing I guess to make clearer about the milestones we report on daily for folks -- this is based only on everyone's season meters. We have no idea about anyone's lifetime total meters, so it's encouraged that when you do hit some major lifetime milestone, please share about it here in the team room so we can post some kudos your way!
