2011 Holiday Challenge - Meet the Goal of $30K

Post by Kona2 » November 18th, 2011, 11:58 am

Image Note to ALL Participants

From K2, the Luna-Tics Team - to all Concept2 Holiday Challenge Participants:

Concept2 has never been able to meet its goal of $30,000...because we haven't completed quite enough meters. We've come close, but we haven't crossed that line.

There are, at current count, 20,688 active Concept2 logbooks ringing up meters from ergs and ski ergs. If just 15,000 of us complete 100,000 m...Concept2 makes its goal. Given that only 5500 people participate in most of the Challenges, it might be a tough sell to get 15,000 people to go the distance.

Think about putting in some extra meters during this Challenge. You'll never work so hard for $2 or feel so good about it.

I've borrowed your post and stuffed it on the SUB7 thread.

I'm going to try and get my act together to do the full 200K.

Looking forward to this years Challenge. Started Rowing in 2005, completing the 200k for the 2006 season. Haven't done the 200k since. Last year did 186,000 and fizzled out with 4 days to go! Started back up rowing about a month ago on a mission to lose weight and get in shape. The Challenge supports a noble cause along with a healthy alternative to a holiday sedentary lifesyle. Good luck to all!

200,000 m ...you've got what it takes!

Whether you're considering 50K, 100K or 200K....it helps to make a plan of attack! Make a pact with yourself (and your family) that you can make time to row at least 25 days of the 31 ... and you'll be pretty successful. If you can stay ahead in the meter game, you'll be happier (and you'll make it through those last few meters with a profound sense of accomplishment!).

We're well into it by now - I'm at 55K. I had a thought during those hour-long rows: What if everyone that completes the Challenge matched C2's donation? For 200K, that would be a mere $6, and the $30,000 goal would be easily obtainable. I'm going to do it. Pass the word.
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

Great idea ! Wonder if Concept2 has anything set up or if we would work through the agencies directly?

Count me in too! Has anyone contacted Concept 2 to see how we can contribute financially?

I was rethinking this> Any monetary contribution from us should NOT be confused with the goal of "Concept2". It is the goal of Concept 2 to give $30,000 and "we" should be doing everything "we" can to fulfill their goal. Anything we might contribute financially should be over and beyond that.

Talked with Concept2 customer service about making donations on behalf of the organizations. Concept2 has nothing set up to receive $$$ from any of us. If anyone wants to make an additional contribution beyond meters, they should work with the organizations directly.

Good rowing all for reaching the $30k target. We were still over $1,000 short on Christmas Day but distances added since then have edged us to the finish line.

Regards,

Joe
