Hi!
I've been quite busy lately.
Last Saturday I've finished my 1st. HM. Actually I did it faster than I thought. But I really don't think I'm ready for a Marathon on May 7th. Sorry
My son will be graduating from College next weekend. I'm preparing a Celebration Party at our home next Sunday. I have family and friends coming from Brazil for the occasion.
I started a new full time job on Wednesday and I wasn't expecting to get the position. I wasn't working before and is my first full time job in the USA.
I was very worried that all these things would prevent me from erguing my 5K a day. But so far I've been able to do so and even more.

The Ducks in a Row is really helping me on keeping motivated. Thank you ducks!

Wow, sounds like you've got a lot going on Maria! Congrats on the new job! What will you be doing? Congratulations also to you and your son on the graduation as well. Keep on rowing, and way to go on keeping up with it! Its a motivation for me, who doesn' t have as much going on and should be doing a better job at keeping up with the 5k a day!

Hey CandadaGoose! (Shannon) I just wanted to see if you wanted to use email as a way to contact one another for encouragement purposes with the whole training partner thing? My email should be on the page that has the link to my log if you'd like to email. Otherwise have a good rest day!

Hi Snappyrower,

That sounds great. I'd like to e-mail to you for encouragement purposes. Since I'm trying to lose weight, I especially think it would be good motivation if I can report that I actually lost some weight!

Today was a long work day for me and I'm always wiped when I get home on Saturdays (luckily it's just every other Saturday), so I'll row again tomorrow.

See ya,

Shannon

Hey Ducks,

Do you think that it is possible that we could catch Royal College for 23rd place? We have been steadily gaining on them and are now only 312,862m behind! Only one week left in the season. Go Ducks!

Shannon

Hi Ducks!

I'm just checking in because it's been a while since I posted. I've been pulling several double shifts at work so finding time to workout has been tough, nevermind keeping up with what's going on here!

I'm very happy to see that Canada Goose and SnappyRower are taking advantage of the training partner feature that was added. Keep us posted on how that goes, please! Maybe after I get my million meter goal, I will try to find a partner of my own!

You girls are all doing great! Keep up the good work!

Hi Team.

Just checking in to have my butt kicked!

Have not rowed since doing my HM (1:48:00.8) on the 17th - felt great after doing it, but circumstances have conspired against me since then! Unfortunately have had 2 family funerals to attend in the last week ("grandmother in law"-91, and aunt - 71), and the boys have been more demanding than usual too. However I've got 4 more 5k minimum sessions planned for the rest of this week. May even squeeze in a longer one tomorrow as my hubby is off horse racing for the evening!

Just looking at the Club rankings to see who we can "target" next season. Supercanoa look good to me - same number of members at the moment with a good variety of abilities. What do you reckon?

Dawnald Duck - sorry not to have been in touch since your reply, but looking forward to training alongside you. Well done with the 10k!

Thats all for now. Catch up with you soon.

Jenny

I'm new at this. I am working out at the local Y now (joined Feb 7) ...but a Concept 2 Model D at home is in my near future. Just joined logging online last week. Glad I got started before the start of the new year, May 1. I thought I joined the Ducks but not sure if I did it right... don't know how to check or what to do after I put that in the blank... Let me know if I'm not a "member".

Today I found out that I'm stronger than I am quick... not a big surprise since I've got alot of weight to lose. Anyway blew away my last week 5000 meter record by several minutes by moving resistance up from about 40% to 100%. So I'm sure I can also improve my times on the 2k and the 500 meters also by moving the resistance all the way up. My back was really tired this morning after doing the 2k for time yesterday and then rowing 4000 meters after a couple minutes of recovery but I did the 500 meter for time today and then rowed 5000 meters after that and improved my time on it also. Hoping to row more than 30,000 meters this week.

Ellen

Hi Mallard! Nice work on the HM! Sorry for your recent losses. I hope things will be back to "normal" soon. I look forward to starting off the 2006 season with you!

Snappyrower - I did indeed enjoy my beverages, thank you!

edollar - I saw your name on the Ducks in a Row list on the University/Club Standings link, so I think you've done all you need to do. Welcome to the team! What a nice boost to have at the end of one season and into a new one.

All of this progress on the rowing machine doesn't seem to make mowing the lawn any easier or more fun. Or perhaps my diet and drink choices aren't helping... mmm, bourbon and cake...

Well, I'm taking two more days off from work this week to putter around at home - I hope to get a couple more good long rows in. I should be able to make 400K total for 2005 easily now. (That will also give me 500,000 total so far ... I used to think it would take me years to hit 1,000,000!).

Anyone have any big goals to meet before Saturday (30th April) at midnight?

Good luck!
Dawn

Dawnald Duck:

Mowing your lawn? My yard is still full of snow!!! It is melting quickly though.

I am really enjoying being training partner's with Snappyrower. We have started e-mailing each other every day and that has been great. It is fun to get to know each other. Plus she makes a big deal about every half pound I lose! What a pal

My only goal left is to rerow the 6,000 m ranking. I think that I can improve my time a lot on that one. It is my worst Nonathlon score, so this is my last chance for this year to improve it.

Shannon aka Canada Goose

Decided to tackle a fast aggressive row this evening, so went for 500m sprint. Hit 1:54.0 which was a huge improvement on my previous time of 2:01.00. Got rid of some gremlins along the way too. I'll do the other 4,500 for the day after a few chores.

Good to be back!

Hello Everybody!
I feel like I've been gone forever. I was merely dog sitting, but now I am back at home and getting back into my normal routine.
Last Saturday was my first day on the water! Guess what, Seat5??!! I was seat 5. Now I really know what that means. Boy, did I feel uncoordinated! I have a long way to go to get the hang of this. I'm now glad that the class is 7 weeks long. I think it will take that long for me to get used to an oar! At least one of the coaches said she wants to get me into sculling. I think I also heard them whispering about who would be coxes. Uh oh - I knew I was too short for this sport!! Anyway, I am a very determined cuss, so I will get the hang of this!
Saturday was also my last long row before my marathon attempt. I did a 35K. My old body held up pretty well I think. I'm still not too sure that I will be finished in under four hours like I wanted, but I am trying to convince myself that just finishing will be reward enough.
Guess I should go get some work done. I just wanted to check in. How are the rest of you doing?
Ye Old Buffle

P.S. Happy Birthday Rowmum!!
