recruitable 2k for lightweight women?

Post by eostrow » October 17th, 2011, 9:32 pm

Can someone tell me what a recruitable 2K time is for a lightweight woman who wants to row at an Harvard, Princeton or Stanford? Thanks!

Have you checked out the rankings?:

They can give you some idea of how you compare with others in your category.

Probably not an accurate reflection Bob as the top OTW rowers are seldom seen on an Erg in the Rankings. The younger the worse it gets it would appear, the focus is on the water and the erg is just seen as training. The times for the women in that age group are very slow compared to what is possible. Doesn't get much better with age either, even in what looks like the most hotly contested 40-49 age bracket on the Erg I know of faster people over here on the Erg who don't bother to rank their rows.

Their coach must have a benchmark. I remember being told for example that the minimum was 9000M for the 30 minutes for the mens heavyweight national squad over here.

I think crash b times would be a pretty good indicator. I think a few local schools send athletes.

It is just that it is a quick. easy starting point, Carl. I would think that anyone who falls below the 90 percentile in the college age bracket would not have much of a chance. But, yes, the best bet is to try to find out exactly what the coaches require.
