Tom Peters (business management guru of his day) says that teams are full of quirky individuals...who usually rub each other the wrong way from time to time, and then come together to produce amazing outcomes. And it does take the whole team to produce an amazing outcome. Whether you row 100 or a number with a lot of zeroes behind it, you contribute to our success. Writing down the numbers every day gives a great opportunity to see some subtle changes, to note when someone is starting to push their meters....to provide that seed of a suggestion

When our team first started providing stats, it was a copycat activity. During a challenge, one of the other teams had a podium - and only the top three rowers of the day could make it to the podium - kind of like the Tour de France. That didn't seem quite right, so we didn't keep that part of the copy. Since everyone was contributing, everyone's meters were listed in the daily roll call. This is a little tougher to do with the Challenge Team, thus a link to the individual contributions is given.
Would you have joined a team if you didn't have to join one for one of the challenges?! Some people only join a challenge team because you have to be a team member to participate. It can be kind of scary to put yourself out there to a team and ask "can I join?" I mean, what if some team said NO? So that was another thing we got rid of - you didn't have to ask permission to join....or leave. Virtual teammates become virtual friends....and it's not any less real or less complicated. The best mantra is "be the kind of teammate you would like others to be."
Barbara aka bg said something like "it takes a whole village to raise a Luna-Tic" when she reached her ten million lifetime meters. Different seasons and different challenges will highlight different people each time. Each one of those people inspires someone or many someones on the team in their own quirky way. The stats are always the starting point for those stories - and each of you are the main characters in this drama (sometimes we're an action flick).
Give us a good plot to work with - and we'll do our best to weave the tales.
