congrats to all the towers and meters they have rowed this season/challenge. For our big meter folks, I recommend sports drinks during rows and short rows more often during the last few days of the challenge. Anyway it worked for me a few challenges ago when I became addicted to meters. Protein bars at the end of the day to prevent some muscle loss too.

I think I'll pick up some sports drinks today on my way home from work. If anyone is looking for options for protein bars, I recommend Promax bars. They have 20 grams of protein, taste great, and are fairly inexpensive. I do the subscribe and save on Amazon and get a couple boxes every month. After the 15% discount, they're only about a dollar a bar. My favorite flavor is nutty butter crisp. I haven't tried a flavor I didn't like.

Gratz on the millions!

My newly adjusted goal for the challenge is 250km. But finding more than half an hour to row is pretty tough at the moment so while I was planning on taking Thursday and Friday as rest days, I may have to put in 4-5k on Thursday to meet that goal depending on how much time I can find tonight and tomorrow.

Current low on the scale: 193.2lbs.

I did beat my PB on 30minutes last night (7384m) and my PB on 2k on Sunday night (7:29.3). Last night I was going to take it easy, but ended up racing Andreas (from Denmark) online. He beat me with ease, but it pushed me into a PB so it's all good. :)
Wim (attempting to get back into rowing shape).

Fall Team Challenge: Thru Day 25 of 31

ImageImageImage Million TEAM Meters ! Image

What a record-setting team this is! And we wouldn't be where we are without each of our participating rowers. Here's a comparison of the Luna-Tics Fall Challenge team to all the rowers participating in the challenge. So far, there are 4367 rowers actively participating in the challenge. That's 87 percent of the people who signed up. There are still 646 rowers who have yet to upload their meters (doesn't mean they aren't rowing). The biggest percentage of rowers have rowed between 10,000 - 49,999 m. In comparison, the Luna-Tics biggest percentage of rowers are rowing in the 200,000 to 299,999 m category. There are some amazing differences in what the Luna-Tic rowers are doing vs the overall mix of rowers in the whole challenge. Great efforts by everyone are keeping us in second place.

While much has been written about the mega-meter goals, we wouldn't be in the number 2 spot on the Fall Team Challenge roster without our full contingent of 129 active rowers. 90 percent of our meters are provided by those who are not million meter challenge rowers. Ninety percent ! And almost everyone finds that their individual meter contributions are greater when they belong to a team - because they don't want to let the team down. Wim's a good example of an individual rower who has adjusted his goal twice - moving it up each time as he finds he's rowing more than he anticipated. So many others are probably doing the same thing (and unless you tell us what your goal is - only you know it). Goals are kind of funny that way - they can become more attainable when you tell someone else about them.

Image

We currently have 1 rower (Baz) in the 500 - 599K group, 1 rower in the 600-699K group (Will S), 2 rowers (Cathie and Michelle) in the 700-799K group, and 1 rower (Jay) in the 800 - 899K group. The graph does not show this easily because it less than one percent of the rowers - but wanted to make sure that these efforts were also called out since they don't show on the graph well.

Here's a link to the entire individual performances:

http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/team ... index=2537

That's throwing a lot of numbers out there (need a number geek alert  ) -- and it doesn't begin to capture the inspirational stories and spirit of the team. The Luna-Tics might not have been the first choice team for some, but the combined efforts have made us more successful. We cannot begin to know all the stories unless they are shared. Take a minute to share your story today - it always makes a difference.

Wait, Wait, WAIT !! The Fall Challenge is NOT over yet....we still have FOUR (southern hemisphere) or FIVE (northern hemisphere) days ( and that's 13 to 16 percent of the total challenge time) remaining (depending upon where you live in our rowing universe!). That's a lotta time to make stuff happen - for us, and for other teams. Row what you can, when you can !

Crikey, many, many milestones this morning as we sprint towards the end of the challenge...

Congratulations to Cathy & Will S on 3mm season to date...

To the million metre boys don’t forget to come up for air occasionally!

And can I throw in a big thanks to K2 for all the stats and encouragement that she throws in from her Rocky Mountains hide-out on a daily basis!!

Cheers, BBB
