100K in a day and 1,000,000 meters + in a challenge

and Image Supernova!

Woohoo and hooyah !!! Congratulations, Brett, on achieving a supernova (rowing 100K in a 24 hr period) AND achieving a one million meter Fall Team Challenge!! This rare combination is a Luna-Tics team first.

ImageImageImage

And how cool is it that Kiba, the only other Luna-Tic rower who has posted 100K for a day (that I know of - although Will S might have done this), presents the 100K cupcake award ! She knows what it takes - a day spent on the erg, where there isn't enough padding in the world to save your butt.

As to planting goals - reasonable or not, realistic or not - we are an adventuresome team...and we would each rather go big than go home. You're an ultra-marathoner on the erg! Well done !

Brett,

Just a heads up. Kiba is not what she appears, ie the "Cupcake Fairy".. A year or so before you signed on Kiba was our resident long distance Queen! She would routinely row 50-60 K a day and on numerous occasions would pulled the the old 100K session.

So when you get an "Atta Boy" from her it's worth something special since she has been there before.

danno

For more info contact K2 or 27. They are the resident historians.

Image Million Team Meters !

Wow....wow...WOW! Some accomplishments just make you shake your head - and grin! And the story behind the numbers posted - that's what it's all about! One of our teammates has a saying that those who don't think it can be done need to get out of the way of those who are getting it done.

Here's a link to the individual contributions, milestones...and a big thank you to all ! We rowed 951,586 m yesterday !

http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/team ... index=2537

Top Ten Percent Goalers: target is a minimum of 182,500 m as of this moment

Here's to the hooyah moments in life - and the people who create them !

Way to row a century Brett!!!!! Amazing!!! I am going to try it too, maybe next Saturday.
I remember looking at stats from years past and saw Kiba rowing 100k often. Wow! Inspirational.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 10.8.11

Post by Kona2 » October 9th, 2011, 2:18 pm

Whooooosh!! The team ergs were churning out the meters yesterday - what we all thought was a windy day was really great participation generating a LOTTA meters and keeping those erg fans turning! We know now that the wind epicenter (just go with it ...maybe winds can have an epicenter :D ) was in Illinois, central USA. And all those fireworks....well, they signify that yet another Luna-Tic has met a really big personal goal. All that and we still have (including today in the northern hemisphere )7 days of Fall Challenge Rowing; 6 days for the Aussie and NZL contingent.

Season meters as of 162/365 = 69,830,351 m

Total meters on the day = 1,139,782 m (and this is without adding any new team members!)

Oars in space (participation) = 42 percent

BigBrett58 wrote:On September 1, 2010, I received my Concept2 Model D. I'd never rowed before. The reason I bought a rowing machine instead of a treadmill or exercise bike was because the weight limit of the rowing machine was 500 lbs while the weight limit of non-commercial other exercise equipment tended to be between 275 and 300 lbs. I weighed 346 lbs at the time. The very first time I rowed, I went a total of 10 minutes, but took a break to stretch after 5 minutes. I was sore the next day. This morning, I weighed 269.4 lbs which is the lowest I've weighed in over 9 years. I'm not posting this so that everyone will tell me how great I am. While I appreciate the encouragement, I don't like a lot of attention. I actually get a little embarrassed. My true reason for sharing this is to add another story among the many of what can be accomplished over a period of time using this particular piece of exercise equipment and being part of a supportive group. I know some people are new to rowing and want to know what's possible. I'm not exceptional. Over the course of the past year, I didn't lose 1.32 lbs every week. Some weeks I lost 5 lbs and others I gained 3 lbs. I rowed more yesterday than I did between December 2010 and March 2011. I'm not some model of self-discipline. Sometimes I succeeded, and other times I failed miserably. During the past year, my wife lost a pregnancy and became pregnant again. Sometimes my job was stressful; sometimes it was boring. Sometimes I went to Subway; sometimes I went to the Chinese buffet. When you have long term goals, your daily battles may be wins or losses. You have to have a short memory about the losses. You can't do anything about yesterday or last week. You can't diet for a year today. You only have control over what you're doing at this moment. Life is a series of individual decisions. You only have to make one at a time.
Brett

That is a fantastic story, and what a great effort, not just on the big row you did, but from the outset when you started. Personally I think the C2 Rower is one of the best pieces of exercise equipment (maybe the best!) that money can buy, and the support that Concept provides is outstanding.

Your story, achievements, and encouragement is very motivating :!:

And to all Luna-tics collectively, we should be proud as we head into the final week of the challenge!

And a medical note...a few hours upside down in white-water rapids is great for the sinus! Man, I’m water logged today, but breathing beautifully!

Wow. That's a crazy impressive achievement. Sending you soothing thoughts of a jacuzzi tub, ice packs, and a six of good yeasty beer. (Maybe a bunch of pretty flowers for your patient wife who let you row all day?) Congrats!
