A wet weekend is forecast for the Sydney-siders...

Just looking through the posts, we’ve had a new grandchild, any number of milestones, and the luna-tics continue to ‘pump’ along in the challenge. Congratulations all round...

I have a weekend of Speight’s training coming up, some bike riding, running (bane of my life!) and the C2. Unlikely to get out on the water in the kayak due to the forecast weather...

And lucky for us it is a holiday on Monday, so might even sneak in a steak & stout on Sunday night

Good weekend to all.... :)

Cheers, BBB

Re: More Moose Photos

Here's a few moose pictures taken today by friend Alice who lives at about 9000 ft in the Boulder mountains area. The aspen are absolutely splendid...and the moose family is also.

Awesome moose pictures Kona!
Have a great weekend Baz and don't overtrain.
Ben S., love the new profile photo, you look great.
I am missing Tristan's game tonight, feeling a bit off. They are playing the champs from the past 3 years, both undefeated so far, but only 3 games in.
Update on Kaylee's team- after finishing in 2nd place in summer softball, they are winless in fall ball. They have a tournament Saturday here for Morgan, all teams in the state will be playing, ages 8-18. All proceeds go to childrens cancer. Hope we have a huge turnout.

Today is the half-way point. As a team, I think we can be proud of what we've done so far. I don't know if we'll have any more/less teammates after today, but we're on pace for 25 million meters as a team. Does anyone think we can do it?

Whoop, whoop! Way to fan the team spirit, Brett ! From now until the last hour of the challenge (and then a couple of days for the final numbers to get entered), all the teams will really start to pour it on. Some of the challenges have been won by less than 10,000 m - and the exciting finishes truly just have to be experienced. The Luna-Tics placed third in last year's Fall Challenge. We fielded a team of 68 and brought home 12.5 MM meters (or thereabouts). What would be cool to see would be a second place finish this year (however many meters that might take) ... with 90 percent participation! At present team roster count, that would be 128 of the 142 rowers contributing meters.

Never doubt that your individual meters - however many those might be - help in this team challenge. Many times, the efforts of a few inspire others to achieve even more than they thought they could. We row in support of each other - and the challenges that are faced every single day - truly a team with a big heart! Many great milestones will be achieved during this month long challenge ... some of them will be meter related, some of them will be personal hooyah! victories.

Feed the fire - fuel the challenge - row, Lunies, row !!

Thank you Barb :) Tristan's team lost 28-20 but that is the closest they have come in 4 years. Maybe they will meet again in playoffs. The other team has quite a big speed advantage, but hey, they still have 5 more years of head to head meetings, so maybe we can catch up.

Baby Arlo...Very, Very Cute!

Jim, thanks for mentioning Ben's new profile photo. I uploaded it the other day, but my computer is still showing his old photo, so I didn't know if it uploaded or not.

Tim just joined the challenge, and we are all doing a few pulls on the chain today just to help the team get the 90% participation goal this week. Will then do what we can for the remainder of the challenge. I've got to keep it low until after the marathon, so will have just a few days to throw down meters this time. Next year I am going to try an earlier marathon, so as not to have this annoying interference.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 9.29.11

Post by Kona2 » September 30th, 2011, 6:20 pm

30 days has September....aaack! we used up another month! During that time, the team grew from 101 to 132 teammates.

Wow - many of you have spent some time on the erg today since I checked in early in the day and captured the numbers available at that time. Wim must have done a couple of rowing sessions today - saw him fly by...and Ron's taken the lead over Brett (great that we are all on the same team) in the overall meters for the Challenge.

Season meters as of 153/365 = 63.942,361 m

Total meters on the day = 620,345 m (I could get used to these kinds of numbers)

Oars in space (participation) = 39 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

2.4 MM Ron
2.1 MM Brett
1.95 MM Rosi

Heh :)

I took 2 days of rest, and figured that since I had the afternoon off (effectively since I had an early PT appointment, my last one for now), I'd get back on the erg. There were a few people online so I did 4 online sessions. Nearly set a PB in the second one but decided that pushing to the limit would be bad since I wanted to row for at least another 40 minutes or so afterwards.

Prior to the 2 days of rest I pushed far enough that I figured I'd stay in the top 10% even after the rest (and I did).

Anyway, the online sessions were fun. Too bad I normally am at work during the times most of these sessions are held at. Oh well.

Total Challenge Meters = 13,241,371 m

That's almost a million meters in less than 30 hours! Amazing, amazing, amazing !! In-cred-ible ! Lots of good stories to tell in the numbers of meters being posted. Michelle has really been putting a lot of time in on her erg - she's right up there with those who are now in the top twenty of ALL rowers....and she is number ONE among the adaptive rowers. Wow! Way to row!

Top Ten Percent Goalers: > 127,100 m Currrent target - expect a 10K jump today
Here's a link to the individual contributors - some major milestones being achieved! !

http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/team ... index=2537

Row onward, Lunies! We're at 86 percent participation this morning. Am currently at 8500 ft, going to put in some slower mountain rowing (it's that rarefied air :D ). The fall colors are amazing - gold on those mountains all around us!

Btw, Jim - the Malvern Arkansas football 6th grade players were sure in the news yesterday here in the Denver area. The air waves were telling of a 6th grade running back phenom, Demias Jimerson, who is so good that if his team is up by 14 points, he is limited to no more than three touchdowns. Whoa. That would be a tough scenario to manage. Do any of your grandkids play on same team ?

Ben S's new profile picture is a great one - just showed up today for me. Seems to be a big difference on when I see the updates depending upon whether Internet Explorer or Firefox used for access.
