best rowing clothes?

I have prowled the Forum and I have not seen any postings about recommended apparel for erging. I've been wearing a tee-shirt and cotton gym shorts but they get sweaty and soggy in half an hour, and the seam in the shorts is not very comfortable after an hour. I'd appreciate any advice, especially with recommendations of good on-line sources of appropriate apparel. Thanks.

Wicking is key. Both Nike and Under Armour make good work-out shirts and shorts. Big improvement over cotton.

I even use wicking headbands which absorb an amazing amount of moisture, given how flimsy they are.

I bought cycling shorts for long rows. Feels a bit like what I think an adult diaper would be like. I wear them if I row for an hour or more, but I won't replace them when they wear out.

I agree with wicking. For a long row, you need wicking/evaporating material.

I tried bicycle shorts, but they aren't padded in the right places. I finally invested in a couple of pairs of rowing shorts. You can buy them from C2 or try www.jlrowing.com . If you use jlrowing, check the bargain bin for deals on rowing 'trou'. They also carry accessories for indoor rowing like gel seats.

I wear rowing shorts. I row in my basement and have a fan also. No shirt. Otherwise underarmor shirts are great. Towel handy at all times. And a cbreeze on the erg. Worked great even when we had no power due to Irene.

Depends on your intended row really, training I wear a Lycra one piece, pretty scary I know for anyone over 40 but thankfully it's in the privacy of your own home.

PB rows have been better with just bike pants that have no padding in them and no top at all, this allows the upper body to breathe and move completly unrestricted.

They offer specific rowing gear and you can even have your clothing custom made....also clothes are made in California which supports the American economy. If you don't want to spend as much then perhaps you can look in regular sports stores but you dont want you shorts / pants to be too loose. If you look at rowers, they using have tight kit and usually all-in-ones cos they are comfy.

I've got the shorts from the C2 shop and really like them. I've got both the cotton and the PolyPro. The cotton are fine, but the PolyPro are better and what I would suggest. They are from JL Design, but not sure exactly which model/design. So shopping at JL makes sense.... but I like the look the the C2 shorts.

For a shirt I did get one of the C2 Technical ones and it is very nice. Most of the time I wear any moisture wicking fitness shirt like Columbia's.

This is exactly how I do my rowing. I just got my cbreeze the past weekend and it's great!

I bought the rowing shorts on a whim from C2. I was ordering a seat pad and couldn't justify $8 shipping for a piece of foam, so I added the shorts to my order. They are far more comfortable than the baggier gym shorts I was wearing previously and I will probably pick up a few extra pairs at some point.
